Ati 5 series ... are all the crashing problems resolved ?

First had a 5770 a couple of weeks after launch and then replaced it with my 5850 and had no problems with either on Windows XP and Vista 64. I have used most of the driver releases as and when they have been released with no probs either.

as i just posted in another thread...
mine are fine, does it only happen in perticular games or smth? ive only been playin 3 games (crysis,dirt2,RTCW:enemy territory)
i was getting BSOD to start with on heavan but that was down to a poorly ventilated case (FD r2 with 1 in 1 out stock fans) and 1300mhz ram speed, ram back @ 1250 and an extra case fan never crashed since

I just replaced my gtx275 with a 5870, don't get me wrong it's a great card but the drivers/control panel (cat 10.3) just do not seem as polished to me as the nvidia ones.

Seems like anything I try to apply in in ccc just doesnt work, cant force vsync doesn't seem to like forcing of aa or af, which is fine so long as I can force it on in game, which works for titles which have the option. ATI Tray tools and Rivatuner don't seem to help either. Also no custom res/refresh rate which is a pain.

Other than that I can run the card at 990mhz with 1300 memory no sweat, but at that speed it does not like switching from 2d to 3d at all (it does one or the other fine usually), maybe it's something to do with the core voltage adjustment in msi afterburner, dunno can't say for sure if this is a driver issue or not.

not for me mate ive done every thing from different drivers to speaking to sapphire on my vapor x..excellent people sapphire are still cant sort it...bought new power supply formatted pc ...the only way to get mine to run is underclock to 850/1100 mhz...whuch is defeating the object really....

what crashing problems?

i got my 5870 XFX reference cooled a couple weeks ago at certain etailer who were doing a superspecial offer of this card for £234, bagged one :D

though it's not a very good clocker, 900Mhz requires additional voltage, and 1250Mhz is all its memory can do.

Just a side note - Everyone in this thread who has a working 5xxx series card, has either an Intel i5/7 series CPU, or a Q6600.

(from people's sigs)

I wonder if the 5xxx series was tested on i7's etc, and not tested much on C2D rigs, as they dont seem to be happy when paired with anything on dual core??

I had a faulty one, never worked with any drivers, I got a replacement one and put it in, happy as anything straight out of the box with any drivers.

Got mine a month after release or thereabouts and not a single problem with it at all also built seven systems with 70 and 50 cards in and none of them have problems either variety of cpu's couple of i7's an i5 and the rest q9's. I only install the basic drivers no hdmi or any of the other stuff maybe thats it. Only other thing i can think of is that i am a little anal on overclock settings and all systems are completely rock solid all timings are correct.

Mine seems okay with my i7, just the RAM thats causing all of the problems.

RMA'ing them, so it should be okay soon :)

No problems here on an E5200
