ATI 5850 and CPU

I also have 5850 but with intel E6600 running at stock 2.4GHz. I was playing crysis warhead at 1024X768 resolutions with fraps. When the character looks at mountains in the background I get round 31FPS. I overclocked 5850 to 900/1200 MHz and this time I still only get about 36-37 FPS :(. Is this how much I should be getting or do I need to overclock E6600 for 5850 to properly utilize 900/1200 MHz settings and give me higher FPS?
If you can overclock that E6600 to 3.6GHz, you should see huge improvement to the frame rate (especially the minimum frame rate). With your CPU there isn't much point overclocking the graphic card, as your CPU is bottlenecking the 5850 at stock anyway.

Thanks guys for ur replies :D. I was wondering why 5850 being an excellent card giving me low frames per second at 1024X768 resolution. So E6600 at stock is more than enough for applications like surfing internet, word processing, cad work etc. But for gaming this CPU needs to be overclocked to get the best out of it.
