ATi 5850 Issue

I bought the game off steam lol.

And it does do it with other games too, but more-so with L4D2. Why hasn't Valve or ATi made a solution to this problem. Valve has never let me down before.

Tanks dude, i'll give that a try when i get home, as the uni proxy blocks it.

I've emailed ATi today, and also spoken to one of my computing lecturers and he thinks it must be either th graphics drivers or sound drivers.

Cheers.

Pretty sure i've found the problem.

Sound drivers.

Using the HDMI audio it freezes. Disabling the HDMI audio it does not freeze. Whether it is Realtek drivers or ATi drivers.

So I just need to use the onboard sound (which is a bit of a pain, but there we go. **** happens.

Cheers guys.

Or not...

I think it could be down to Norton 2010. So i've uninstalled that and installed AVG to give that a try. Whenever there is a crash, the norton window has openend. So im gonna try that.

Sorted. Uninstalled Norton 2010 and installed AVG. That combined with the audio disabling has solved it.

Cheers.

Problem has come back. This is so annying. I have tried everything now this is just ridiculous! They have released more drivers, but they don't seem to have made any difference at all. I'm getting all sorts of crashes now. Crash to desktop, crash to lines on the screen. It's getting worse.

What the hell am I supposed to do? =[

This sounds quite like my problem with an i5 and gigabyte board. Where did you disable the HDMI audio - is it a BIOS setting?

Disable it through the Device Manager, Sound, Video and Game Controllers, the ATi HDMI is in there, just right click it, then select disable.
