These new cards are too long. Its getting a tad silly now.. my 4870 only just fits in my Thermaltake Tsunami Dream case and hogs one of the HDD Spaces.

Arghhh! :(

So do you guys use the finance options?

I have never used it before is it worth it?

Nope, just saved up for a few years.
Thought now would be a good time to get a new system but looks like I'll be stuck with my 9800 Pro 128mb and Athlon XP 3000 for another few days :(:(:(:(

At least when I get the damn thing there should be a noticeable performance difference :p

I considered the finance option because it seems fairly good but then read it takes about 4-5 days for it to process and I couldn't wait that long, so I just blew some savings :p

Get paid two weeks today then we'll see about another hey :D

Might wanna re-read the finance option, while its not the worst ever its not actually that good... you end up paying a fair whack extra...

Last time I needed to finance something from OcUK I got my bank to roll it for less than a quarter of the interest/loan fees.

Why would you not clear it before the interest is charged though?

There is a 25 quid admin fee but then I was going to order a few 5870's and some other things. So wasn't like I was going to spend a little anyway

I really want to buy 2 of them right now - bad times :(

I will wait because i know what OcUK are like in the next couple of weeks the price will good down or maybe a month at best before a price drop.
And theres no games that run DX11 yet is there ?

+ i don't have the money hmmmm :(

Friend of mine bought a Powercolor 5850 from OCUK today, he is wondering does his come with Dirt II voucher aswell ?????

it was my understanding that all 5800 series cards came with dirt II ?????

For some reason I was assuming you were doing the loan rather than buy now pay later.

glad to see them released, but im going to wait until i need one as i only game @1680x1050 no point for me yet + will need to wait for water blocks :)
if the 5870x2 comes out at under £450 will probably get one at xmas...POST SOME BENCHIES!!

ive heard many things but cannot confirm anything myself, im lead to believe all 5 series have the voucher to download dirt 2, and some of the 5 series cards have battlefield pacific or something aswell.

Why don't you just read some reviews?!

It's about 20-30FPS faster, basically the same difference you saw from 4850 - 4870.

Money tight? ;)

Get the 5870

What an unusual thing/game to link to. The 5870, at 1920x1200 is roughly 13% faster than the 5850 on average (according to Tech Power Up). Don't know about you, but to me that is not worth an extra £100. Saying that though, in Crysis, it makes the difference between playable at 1920 max settings with 4xAA and not playable. So who knows. I'd imagine the 5870 will be more future proof, but I also think the 5850 will hold it's value much better.

Beware of these kind of summaries as they wont give you the true picture.

First off, at 1920x1200, it's 15%. The 5850 has 87% of the performance of the 5870, therefore it's ~15% faster than the 5850 in that summary.

My main point is these summaries contain a number of tests where framerates for both cards are sky high where other factors come into play.

If you want to really gauge how powerful the 5870 is compared to the 5850 then you need to do it with tests where graphics card performance is the main bottleneck, not CPU or some other factor.

Little doubt though that the 5850 is the best bang for the buck in the enthusiast segment at the moment.
