I am thinking of buying 1 ATI 6870 v/c.
Could anyone tell me wether it will run okay on a "Asus P5N-E-SLI mobo" please?

Thanks for your reply,i have seen on the web that people had trouble on their Asus p5n-e-sli mobo with a ATI 5850,so i'm wondering if the ati 6870 will give the same trouble.As i know it is a Nvidia board.

what kind of trouble they getting it ? you will not able to crossfire it thats for sure but single card should be no problem.

They are saying they are getting a blank screen with the single ati 5850,so i'm wondering if ati v/cs are compatible with the asus p5n-e-sli mobos?

I will be using 1 single ati 6870 v/c.
 
I have the same mobo... I recently installed a HD5770 and got this problem you mention. It is down to the BIOS. It takes around 45 seconds for it to reach POST. You need to update your BIOS to the latest one to sort it :)

Yes that seems the problem.
I have downloaded the bin bios 1406,do i need anymore files to put on a floppy disk like flash exe,and Dos files?
I'm haven't done a bios flash before.
