it's not anywhere in the catalyst and the only one for download that i can see on their site is here

Avivo Video Converter*
*Avivo Video Converter will only work
with X1000 series products

x1000!? which cant use stream. installed it anyway and have no idea what formats it accepts. doesnt take AVS, doesnt take matroska, dont have any avi's to test it with.... oh, and it doesnt accept VOBs or M2TS either.

fantastic!

was there any point to this stream thing of theirs at all???

It seems as if they just rereleased the old Avivo app, no stream upgrades etc.

No idea why, but they had better get their finger out and release a proper app soon or they are going to suffer a world of pain in the press. They promised something that used the GPGPU power, not something that's less impressive than CPU encoders.

Yes it semes utterly pointless, doesn't seem to use the GPU at all and doesn't seem to work with any files I have, just a bit of a joke really.

HEADRAT

I'm guessing the 8.12s merely enabled this, there's a review over at that censored hardware site, published yesterday, that looked at the performance of Avivo and it's quite good. Says something about it being a seperate download.

You can get it here:-

http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx?p=vista64/common-vista64

for some reason it's labelled up with:-

vivo Video Converter*
*Avivo Video Converter will only work
with X1000 series products

I guess they mean X1000 and above!

I've tried it and it doesn't seem to support any popular file types, I tried to convert an MPEG2 to an IPOD video:-

avivo1.jpg

avivo2.jpg

avivo3.jpg

what I got out was completely unusable.

did go to the basic view but nothing was there. people from anandtech advise the same thing. it looks like you have to download it (if not, why is it there on the same page as the catalyst download?)
