What OS are you using - i've seen some people complaining of this using windows 7? (if you are - are 32 bit or 64 - as it sems to be amore 64 bit problem - although mine works, but i have other issues which other don't - so it's swing and roundabouts.)

Vista x64 (home basic)

this happened before with a 4870 last year, i returned it cause it was freaking all over the show.

But anyway have you had this problem?

No, but i can direct you to a thread with a post by a guy called tmaxxthomson - who is having similar problems to you using a 4870x2. You may want to post and enquire in more detail about his problem. (Although, he is using windows7 64 bit.)

also tryed the 9.5 drivers! do u have a problem, that in catalyst in the 3D section. its uber slow? like really. almost like its crashed slow?

Hope this is of some help...

Thanks,
I guess its not such a big issue... And to be honest i like the still preview better. But Its really annoying that it was there yesterday and all of a sudden today its gone!?!?

that problem i had, it was when the 3d preview was playing as a video. i stopped it so its like a solid image. and now the 3d menu and options are working at full speed! i wonder if it was because my gpu and memory is clocked so low at 2d that was causing catalyst to be slow while showing the video preview? and have you got a screenshot of your 3D menu on how it looks so i can get an idea of ur problem? thanks

Yup, and i know the boxes you are on about. They were there all yesterday! and just suddenly today the whole moving preview has gone!
lol much as i love ati cards... they need to pull the finger out and get this software side sorted!

Corrupted Registry can stop the preview.

Your running your PC at stock & not overclocked ?
Try system restore to a day before the problem.

lol :o

I did use c cleaner.....
and i turned off system restore and yes everything is at stock for now.

:( Oh dear.
System restore fixed that issue for me.

I can understand the space saving with turning off system restore but i leave it on & clean up every now & then to get back allot used space.

Ok... Looks like I am gonna have to reinstall... (swears violently)
So i think no more c cleaner then?

Try to avoid it like the plague.
Its become a common problem on vista 64.
All it takes if for ATI to change something in the drivers, a particular set of drivers & in combination of individual hardware can lead to a problem with C Cleaner & Driver Sweeper where things were all right before using them.

I just install over the top now since 8.12 & delete the C:\ATI\Support contents afterwards & none of the others.

No, I will reinstall.... God knows what else C Cleaner has wrecked in my system...

In terms of registry cleaners... Should I just avoid them all together?

I can not comment on registry cleaners as i have never used them.

TBH the preview not working for me in its self was not important, but it was an indication that something was not working as it should.
Even if the busy circle stops spinning on a regular biases where it used to spin then i start thinking of a reinstall.
None of that has happened as i have settle on a stable OC & have not had a single crash.

If the Preview stopped working as a result of a normal upgrade i would not have worried but seeing as it did work then stopped later and not at the time of the upgrade then i would be concerned.

That is fair enough, and if c cleaner has wrecked something so simple then god knows what else it might have done that is behind the scenes...

I'm off to backup what i need and reinstall here.

Tell us how it works out.

But is that the only thing that's not right & are you really that fussed to have to do a reinstall.
I have never had the Preview stop working by its self. its usually after a BSOD or a bad CPU or RAM OC.

The only thing that would sometimes not show up in CCC when upgrading for me was AIVO Converter which did not bother me.
