ATI Catalyst 3D preview not working.

stick with nvidia next time that gives you peace of mind;)

Hope that was sarcastic, I had a hell of a time with scaling on my 8800GTS so not exactly peace of mind :D
Issues on both sides <WTB graphics card with perfect drivers....will pay pittance>... Actually will be interested to see how Intel's Larabee drivers fair as Intel are usually pretty good when it comes to software.

Ok 1st just like to say that the reinstall fixed the problem and i'm well pleased So again thanks for all your help. *spits on C Cleaner*

And if Intel's current graphics processors are anything to go by... :p

agreed. +1

who cares about £20 when you avoid all the problems that come with ati cards. you get what you pay for after all

Well to be honest I'm so shocked by the performance of this little baby 4850, I have been converted... (that is till the end of this year when DX11 is out!)

But for now the way i see it is
Nvidia = Mobile
ATI = Desktop

Look at his signature first then read his post again. Makes a lot more sense when you look at it like that :p.

michaelmk86 is smoking dried banana skins also :).

That sucks... I RMA'ed my 4870 though ;) artefacts and the display drivers were crashing every time I booted up.

That was when they were 1st released... I will never be an early adopter of technology ever again lol I wait till its matured now :o

Yeah it sucks but for that to be the reason to start going about several threads posting anti-ATI rubbish is pretty sad. You had a bad experience yet are now showing your delight with the 4850. Kudos for not spitting the dummy out m8.

I'm sorry to hear about your early experience with the 4800 series. I got mine a month after they came out and it's been fine. I'm glad your 4850 is fine now :).

That sucks, glad you're happy with your current card!

I think there may have been a bad batch of chips around early on, I used to work in retail and for a short time period we had a load come back, then after that the returns died off and instead we got ecstatically happy buyers back, especially as I'd told them how to get away with a good price match haha

Then a bit after that you had overclockers saying comparatively, the return rates posted were because they were selling approximately 5 times as many ATI 48 series cards than equivalent models at the time. I guess in line with the issues with those NV cards that were dying, it's swings and roundabouts, neither side are perfect in that score. :(

I think happy is an understatement about this wee thing.
It looks awesome in my case, I can play for cry 2 with x2 aa and everything on high. Did i mention that it looks like sex?

I only have one problem, and that is that the card is noisy - BUT ati even have that covered, with the fan control. When I'm not gaming i just make sure to put the fan to 42% and remember to put it on auto when playing.

I know some of you will say "ooh but ntune has that" But I have always found nTune to be rubbish and buggy, when I used it... I'm also a bit weird about installing something that nvidia dont feel comfortable supplying with the drivers in the first place...

aahh anyway, i is happy :D

And I'm so pleased that my driver issue was solved.

Thanks everyone. *i'll start a new thread about what registry cleaner to use now... Although maybe i will just leave them alone*

Wise statement! i usually wait for the tech to mature but i think i will take a gamble on the 5xxx as its close enough to what we have now so the bugs should be few.

Will the 5xxx be DX11? Maybe i'm being silly, but this is the main reason i didnt want to go overboard on my GFX card till i see what happens at Christmas
