ATI Catalyst 6.11 drivers out

Performance Improvement

* A performance increase is noticed in Call of Duty 2. Performance improves as much as 12.5% at 19x12 settings and as much as 10.5% at 12x10 settings on X1900 Software Crossfire configurations. Largest gains seen with 4xAA enabled.

* Oh and some nab decided to tell the whole world that the X1950 XTX was going to be quicker than every other card on the planet, Unfortunately he is a nab.

They working fine for me, no errors in the event viewer with these either. :)

i was getting those errors with 6.10. will wait for more people to post thier experiences before i take the plunge.

Also no masters required now for x1900/x1950 Crossfire

* This release of Catalyst® introduces software CrossFire™ support for any combination of Radeon® X1900 and X1950 installed in a system running either the Windows XP or Windows XP Professional x64 Edition operating system.

They could do it afterall, if you've just shelled out on a master, ouch.

wow does that mean I could pickup another X1900XT standard card and Crossfire will now work? Only the mastercards price have kept me away from going crossfire, if I can get a standard X1900XT later on... :)

hey loadsamoney are you saying that I can just chuck another x1900xtx/xt in my rig and i do not need no crossfire master card???

Lots of issues with the 6.10's

If you install Net Framework 2.0 rather 1.1 you have the INF error appear. There are also reboots with the error

"ati2mtag" "I2c return failed"

Internet forums are littered with issue regarding 6.10's ... good riddance!!!

odd i havent got the .net framwork installed. yet the drivers (6.9) installed for me fine.
then again i did select a drivers only install and did not install the CCC. went with tray tools insted.

Yup as far as i know, Software Crossfire is done by the drivers, so its now like the x1900 GT's etc..., but i don't think it will be as quick as if its done by hardware (the master), probably about 5-10fps slower.

hmmmm cheers bud, I could not find anything in google :D

need to get actual confirmation of this crossfire business. if the master card is no longer needed then this opens up a very nice oppourtunity for people to purchase crossfire on the cheapo...

Well thats the way x1800 GTO, x1900 GT, x1300, x1600 etc... all do crossfire, in software, which is the drivers, be interesting to find out what the hit is doing it that way. :)

yeah it would, my mates two x1600xt's in crossfire give him maybe 1% more frames in every game but benchmarks like 3dmark05 and even then its maybe 15%. totally pants, I assumed it was his crossfire mobo being the first chipset?...but its scared the hell out of me going crossfire. I hope its not to do with drivers taking a huge hit????
