ATi Catalyst 9.6

Does anyone else get these over windows update. I got 9.5 and now 9.6 over windows update. Only a small 9mb download. Vista 32 bit, sp2. 48701gb.

Well i've just tried installed them

Besides wiping my x-fi xtremegamer of sound (re-install after driver sweeper got my sound back) these seem damn good for me (weird how now n again i get loss of sound when doing new ati drivers, happened now n again on abit ip35 pro also)

If it helps rough rig specs below

Sapphire 4870 512
Q6600 @ 3.6ghz
4x2 8500 ddr2 @ 1066
GA x48 dq6
Vista Ultimate x64

Sometimes I've had the install set the HDMI Audio adapter as the default sound device in windows. going in to the sound settings and setting it back to my xfi as the default device normally sorts it.

Seems to do it more often if you don't have any HDMI audio driver installed at all before doing the drivers. if you already have the hdmi audio drivers and it is just upgrading them it doesn't seem to happen as often.

Not really tested/confirmed this, just seems to be my experience with them.

Hi, did you read the last part of the review with the 'unofficial' drivers?

I installed these and started crashing (black screen) whenever I launched a game in fullscreen (3d clocks?). I tried running a game in window mode and that worked so I went back to the trusty 8.12 hotfix drivers for now.
