ATI Catalyst Control Centre not opening?

I thought 1950xt didnt have any new drivers apart from whats on the driver cd?

From what i remember reading on the xt versions of the 1950 from topics on this forum.

It does have drivers now, the Official Cat 6.12's and now the new 7.1's. :)

Im not suprised the 6.1's didn't work, those are last January's drivers, the x1950 XT 256mb's have only been out about 2x months if that.

Id just do a driver cleaner as said above, and just grab the display drivers and WDM drivers (for the VIVIO) from the ATi site, and grab ATi Tray Tools from Guru3D as well to do all your AA/AF etc... settings, you do not need any of the .NET then, or grab the drivers from here that have the old Control Panel. :)

All I do is uninstall the old ATI drivers from control panel, reboot, install new drivers, reboot. Enjoy. Never used driver cleaner since nVidia days.

Make sure you have dot net 1.1 and 2.0 installed.

Never used driver cleaner either myself, all i do is add/remove, delete the display drivers, then the CCC, then i run the ATi Cat Un-installer to get rid of leftover traces, reboot, cancel the 2x found new hardware wizards, install new drivers and jobs a good'un. :D

I'm doing a fresh format. I've had enough!

I'll be installing either the 6.10's (from the cd) or the 7.1's. Should I cancel the wizards?

Ah ok. Sry as i dont have a ati card yet but reading loads of stuff and learnt a bit off the forum past few weeks.

Hope you sort it dude in the end. :)

If your doing a format/re-install then you wont get the new found hardware wizards, so you can just install your graphics drivers straight off, also if your going put the 7.1's on, you will need to put the .NET 1.1 on first, then .NET 2.0 before installing them. :)

I'll throw a spanner in the works here :D

I've got the 7.1s running with just .Net 2.0,no problems, did'nt need to install .Net 1.1

the quick way of doing this is to just run the ATi Cat Un-installer, that will remove anything to do with ATI from your system (inc ATI demos like Ruby etc).

Just two weeks ago I swapped in and out three different ATI cards, didn't touch the drivers they all just plugged n played.

This whole driver cleaner regime is a bit ott, but in the case you are having graphic problems and your have something like an nVidia card installed fair enough.

Dark_Shadow has got general system problems which hopefully he can sort out soon.

Cat 6.12 works great on my x1950 Pro as does the new 7.1 Cats although I saw something funny on the end credits of 3Dmark06 demo, will double check that.

Lets hope this carries on :)

Thanks everyone :)

Nice one.

Yeah i know i can just use the Cat Un-installer, but i like doing it that way to be sure ive got rid of all traces, peace of mind thing i spose, plus ive been doing it forever like that so im used to it. :D

i've used nvidia for the last 5 years ish..since joining this forum and listening to u guys i bought a x1900xt approx 2 months ago...i had only grief installing the drivers for the the card...ccc/ati tray/omega/standard etc etc...when you buy a nvidia card u basically download the latest drivers and-behold-it works.
Luckily for me, my ati card as cocked up and is currently rma'd with oc, and, after a conversation today i will be the proud owner of a x1950xt shortly..this card will then join a large online auction site and will be hopefully be given away/sold so i can again purchase a nvidia card and enjoy gaming with the rest of you!

Yeah its the same thing for ATI cards?

Just helps if your card isn't broken I guess? ;)

Some people can make the simplest task look hard?
