ATI crossfire poor cod5 and 4 performance

well my gpu-z does not say that, says disabled ?? but i thought that was a fault with Gpu-z.

Also in my bios when i was trying to overclock i have pci bus at 101 default should be 100 am i overclocking the bus to much ?

Nope 101 is fine although i was not aware that it was a pre-requisite for cross fire. All i did to enable cross fire was connect both cards using both crossfire bridges and tick the crossfire tickbox within the crossfire catalyst section. I would try a fresh install of your graphics drivers. Use Cat 8.11.

You tried both cards seperately, has the board got a power connector on it for you to stick a molex in when using 2x cards (EDIT: it hasn't), and hasn't that Catalyst AI got something to do with it as well, i.e if you slide that it also turns Xfire off and on or something (well i think anyway). :)

Well i have taken out both cards and the newest one put into the 16X slot connect with my molex to pci-e adapter plugs reboot and all is working fine, so i would say that molex adapters are working fine and new card.

Then put in my original card onto 4X slot with original pci-e power plugs connect one bridge as per photo boot up and gpu-z still shows disabled this should show it.

did play Call of duty 5 and was allot smoother i thought it might be working i think it was running off one card.
put in both Xfire bridges reboot and all still good but still think one card working.
When i removed all ati drivers and reinstalled 8:11 checked the Xfire enable tab went back into COD5 and all was very choppy again?? and Gpu-z keeps saying disabled????

Me very SAD :-(

in the system tray there is a option to have a Xfire logo up when its been used in game. Cod4 and 5 both have this on my system. I just plugged in the second card and all was fine.

Sorry me again I copy this from Catalyst information center and then in Graphics hardware.

Erm....no.

CrossFire works fine in XP; I was running two 3870s on XP SP3 in February.

CrossFire X (more than two GPUs), requires Vista.

^^ Capitals does Not make it True :p:p:p

I run a Quad core & Crossfire on XP, Issues were resolved in SP3 ;)

huh nice caps lol cf works in xp to but might be less performance in 4800 serries well at least that was stated before maybe drivers fix it

Oh dam, I got that from AMD/ATI web site "RUBBISH"

Well then its looking more like a Faulty motherboard, i have removed and installed the drivers so many times i have lost count, tried 8:10 and 8:11 ??

What am i doing wrong.....

I do have cat ai on standard.

Device manager shows other devices and then "SM bus controller" in yellow what is that.

Have you installed your mobo chipset drivers?

Also if you are running XP with 2 x 1GB GPU's your system is only going to have about 1.5GB of mem to use :|

You really really need to get a 64bit OS on ASAP.

Tht 4x slot will massivly cripple the 2nd card as well, you need to get a P45 board at least soon.

smbus is part of the mobo chipset. it can connect to pci cards so it may be causing th problem. have you installed the latest chipset drivers ?
