I have got hold of 2 5870s id like to crossfire.. I have put them both in my PC and used a crossfire bridging cable to link them but now catalyst is complainging that it needs 2 bridging cables .. but every tutorial on the net seems to state only 1 is needed? Am i reading this error in correctly or are 2 bridging cables needed?

Ta.

Only one is needed so something odd is going on.

Have you tried a different Crossfire bridge or using the other pair of connectors on the cards?

What motherboard do you have?

What does the error message say exactly?

it says crossfire :) i do have some spare SLI cables but they dont even fit so thats no worry. Well when it loaded after first installing the extra card ATI catalyst loaded and detected Crossfire but the info window says somthing like:

Your crossfire bridgeing cable inst properly connected, ensure you have connected both the bridgeing ports.

Which made me think both ports so 2 cables? Or does it mean 1port on each card making 2 in total. Ill try again later..

Can i change the bridging cable on the fly? Or do i have to power down to switch it?

One bridge connecting one connector on each card.

Yes, you do need to power down the PC to change the bridge.

Try turning the bridge around through 180 degrees.

Try using the other connectors on the cards.
