ATI --> Nvidia ?

Yeah better at draining more power

It has 2 GPUs. Of course it's going to drain more power. I'll bet as far as power/performance goes it walks all over the 280 though.

making more noise

No it doesn't.

having poorer drivers

This is a joke. nVidia couldn't write a good driver if it walked right up and sat on the desk. I think that's why you only get one every what... 6 or so months?

Sounds like you don't know how to set your PC up correctly.

and running Crysis slower

I actually covered that when I said that "apart from games that didn't support Crossfire". It's not like Crysis is much of a loss anyway.

So much better in every way that i sold mine for a 280.

You made a big mistake. I'm guessing you bought an X2, and then either due to the fact that you couldn't set it up properly or didn't want it to work properly, sent it back, got a 280, and then embarked on a crusade against ATi.

You know what they say about the person between the chair and the screen, right? ;)

Well he obviously did have all those problems else he wouldn't of swapped it would he?

Just because his 1 post was for nVidia and the other 20 are for ATI, he doesn't need a bashing does he.

"either due to the fact that you couldn't set it up properly" ever thought he may know a lot more about computers and DID set it up properly and just wasn't satisfyed?

Is there a reason why ATI constantly rush out new drivers? Is it that difficult to get everything right in one release?

i rather have small packedge of drivers every month then haveto wait for few or several months for game fix

X2 dumps on the 280 from a great height, you would have to be a right muppet to get shot of an X2 and downgrade to a 280. ATI drivers are spot on as well, just those with poorly configured/set-up systems encounter problems and then blame the drivers, when in reality 99% of ATI users have no problems.

"Rush" is a bit of a strong word. They don't seem to be pushed for time to meet their monthly release schedule very often.

And the regular updates is down to something called "supporting the product". I don't understand why a company gets bashed for bothering to regularly improve it's releases.

Yes, yes it is. In every large project there will be some bugs or imperfections, it's better to update often than to lie and say you did everything perfectly (well, not necessarily true, some things might be better left as they are, but not so much with video card drivers that have specific optimisations for many games). Well, the 180 betas especially, they broke furmark for me:

well yeah, it is quite hard. Everything from drivers, operating systems and games, all need patches after thier first release. It is hard to get it right the first time.

Rush out drivers, just LOL, its called Support that ATi do, you need to have drivers coming out all the time to keep up to date with all the games/software that is constantly coming out, its no good having 2-3 drivers a year filled with fixes like what Nvidia do, as if they've just released a driver before a load of games appear, then your knackered if they bugged etc... as you'll have to wait 6+ months for their next driver with those games fixes, you dont fancy that do you, buying a game then having to shove it on the shelf for 6+ months while waiting for a fix, or having to trawl through the Chinese Xfastest, or Guru3D/LaptopVideo2go looking for so called crappy leaked modded beta drivers, i ******* wouldn't, in fact i didn't, thats why i got shot of my Nvidia card, got fed up with no support from em.:)

personally id keep the X2 as there is no denying it is just the faster card, deal with it:o, im sure nVidia will bring something new out soon enough:). also i too like the monthly driver releases:D! means games are quickly optimised and new patches for them are always there:D! iv never had problems with ATi software either always worked fine for me:)! just cos i like ATi though doesnt mean i hate nVidia and wana go arround flaming anyone that likes them:mad:. i think both companies are great even though nVidia usually charge scandelous ammoutns for their cards:eek:, having said that ati is doign the same with the X2:rolleyes:, and tbh they deserve the top spot for now, its a while since they have really really kicked some ass:cool:! i cant even remember where im going with this post.....:confused:oh yah KEEP THE X2 even if its not as good its worth more money :p

Because game developers use NVidia drivers since they are the industry standard, ATI are forced to patch their drivers around each new game which is why you need a new set of drivers for virtually every new game to fix bugs their drivers had.

the only drivers i ever use are the main release ones, never ever used hotfixes and ive never had a problem with ATI same goes for Nvidia, some people just have bad luck lol

Such an immature ATI fanboy. "OH NOES! he's saying bad stuff about ATI, i must flame and insult them! even if i have NO idea what i'm talking about!"

I've probably been building computers as long as your've been alive. I've also had every single high-end card available right now. Fact is i have personal experience with them all, on multiple systems, unlike some people who haven't even owned the cards i know what i'm talking about, and certainly dont have some bizarre immature love for a company that cares nothing about me.

Everything i said about the X2 is valid and true, and it certainly is not massively better than the 280 at actually playing games, because of the better drivers (yes, better - industry standard for a reason) and more consistent performance with less variation the 280 often has just as smooth of an experience as the X2 playing games - i test on a 2560x1600 monitor aswell, something that can actually stress these cards properly. And if reading isn't too hard for you, then your'll see i'm not the only person to find this.

9800GX2 is another card over rated from numbers and graph pictures - in some benchmarks it's faster than 280, but gaming performance does not compare.

I dont just play games on each card, they're tested for hours on end. How can you say otherwise and be so sure about yourself when you have no experience with either - absolutely ridiculous. Dont cry about it.
