ok so at the moment i have a 5870 which is doing my just fine. however like many of you out there i want that little bit extra and also very soon i will be running 3 24" screens so im going to need that bit of extra muscle.

Now my question is, do I:

A) buy a 2nd 5870 crossfire them up and bobs your uncle?

or

B) Buy a GTX480, sell my old 5870 and get a 2nd 480 a little further down the line?

i really cant decide. i do want to change over to nvidia again quite a bit. wouldnt mind the folding ability of the 480s too. but the price is a fair amount and yeh im just not quite sure.

PSU cpu etc can all cope fine with either setup im just a tad unsure. what would be better in a dual card solution? especially with 3 24" screens?

appreciate the advice guys.

god damit i hate waiting. well in all honesty i cant buy till the end of the month anyways. and some more details should be out by then... fingers crossed.

any word out there of a GTX485?

I have just put my 5870 2gb six up for sale and im getting 2 x POV GTX 465's, there on this week only for £165 and then im hoping i can flash them too 470's.

Maybe worth think about doing the same :D

Don't forget to report how it went I bet a lot of people 'd very interesting how it turns out :)

i jst sold my 5870 cf for £420 added £30 and bought myself 2xgtx470 sli which is faster thn my old 5870cf so im quite happy with that deal,i also looked at the pov gtx465 but was put off after i read that someone done a test online with 10 of them and only 4 fully unlocked,id take a chance on 1 of them but not2

yeah this was various models/vendors i believe, its a simple case of POV HAS the 10 memory chips (1280MB) and use a locked GTX 470 GPU. If it doesnt have that then no it wont work, so its a simple case of buying card with the 10 memory chips nd as far as im aware POV dont make one without the 10 chips and 470 gpu :D

I should get the cards tomorrow so will report how it goes :)

althou not all down clocked 470's can be unlocked, some of them are downclocked coz parts of them were damaged :P

its a risk with any of them tbh

well yes that was one of my big reasons for wanting to switch. TBH im a self confessed slight NV fanboy. dont get me wrong i love ATI too and have had some great ATI cards inc my 5870 which is brilliant but. through experience i have just come to much prefer my time with nvidia cards. i usually alternate nv ati nv ati etc etc. and yeh i just prefer nvidia.

apreciate the advice guys. will see how things are when iv got the coin :)

Im upgrading soon and am waiting to see what happen with the gtx 475 or i might sli a couple of 460s nvidia drivers are the best
