Hardly 'unveiled'! That's such a prototype that cooler looks like I made it!

<Next day gibbo announces R600 :( >

:D

Corsair better start to make 1-2kW PSUs for those crossfired...

Enermax Galaxy 1kw is your friend.

ps it seems on the same site, they report that Nvidia want to try and release drivers like ATI on a monthly basis. Do they know that renaming a file does not count?!?

And OCZ are doing a 2kW version that takes 2 kettle plugs!

Might be a good time to get those solar panels and that wind turbine...

I've just brought a few more hamsters and a few more dynamo wheels!

I cant see any reason to have physically different PCB's for OEM vs retail

Everything else about the cards are going to be the same so why bother?

Loadsamoney - surely OCUK do as many OEM products as retail, depends on supply does it not?

Noto - renaming a file doesnt count, I would buy you a pint tonight if you lived near me, that made me burst out laughing!!!

Hmm seems the end isnt the card but just a fan. Take that off and the length is more like x1950pro ish length i reckon.

But holy hell how on earth will they sell things like this i mean you need specialized cases to fit these things as no current case not even that akasa long case would fit this card.

I mean why on earth they cant just split 1 card into 2 cards and use both pci-e slots is beyond me. And no im not talkin about sli setups but 1 card sharing its stuff between two slots is what i mean not 2 full range cards working together.

Remember the retail card is actually shorter than the 8800 (according to post above)

As to your proposal it would be a little like robbing peter to pay paul dont you think? After all these high end cards are meant for top of the range systems and using two PCIE slots instead of one would be defeating the purpose you might as well have two previous generation cards in crossfire - whether its called crossfire or "one card sharing its stuff...." it still uses two slots yeah?

A space shuttle maybe... :D

SO I got one and put it in my shuttle, only way keep it cool enough (in space) :p

Also the above is the only way they could deliver it to me, vans/lorrys/boats/cranes not powerful enough, takes 2.5 million pounds of thrust to even start it budging :D

well if the inquier is correct the r600 can hit 1ghz speeds on the core
so that could counter the refreshes but its the inquier :(

If that cooler makes it onto the retail boards, im thinking 5800Ultra leaf blower status tbh, as its gunna have one hell of a job keeping the GPU cool at the suggested speeds so will need high speed fan would imagine. ;)

That fan is for the big OEM's only. The retail cards are SHORTER than the 8800GTX and have a smaller but 2 slot HSF assembly.

I don't know why everyones ignoring the retail "specs" and getting all hyped up over the OEM specs.... We will not get the OEM ones, only retail!

Yes im AWARE thank you  But the RETAIL ;) fans on the top end Nvidia are fairly noisey at present and this thing has quite insane stats to boast about rumor has it so begs the question of final cooler design. :p

When you say 2 slot, do you mean the cooler takes up 2, so we need 3 slots for the whole thing (video output + 2 cooler vents) or the usual 1 slot for video and one for venting?

If the r600 can run in xfire on the 975/965 (im looking at a quad gt) then my new rig is s.o.r.t.e.d. :D

smaller gpu's arent they on the R600 - I thought the fab size was smaller?

Either way the fan on my 8800GTX is pretty noisy , so they still need some improvements on the design
