That is the problem wiht the stack at the moment if the dollar rate was favouralbe it would fit at a bette price point. Saying that thought the 5770 is still a strong card for the moment.

Hmm - odd - I fully expected this to be coming it at around a £170 price point - when you can get the HD5850 a the price bro306 mentioned, I'm not sure I understand the pricing rational (other than the exchange rate...).

It's a smaller card running 25% slower than the HD5850 and yet priced identically... very strange indeed. Having said that, I've just noticed the price hike on the HD5850 - but it's still not in proportion to the performance.

The other thing to notice is that the form factor is not the same across the board... I wonder what the performance variables are going to be like...

Unless the dollar rate hits around $1.78 you would still struggle to buy a card at £170 once VAT and retailer margin has been added on.

Oh undoubtedly and I'm not putting this on you guys (altho the instock 5850 price hike isn't overly impressing). The £170 thing is more aimed at the distributers - you have to question what they're thinking bringing in a slower card at the same price point as the 5850s. They've gotten it pretty spot on so far with the 5770s and the 5850s (altho some may argue otherwise) but the 5830 I struggle to make sense of.

Too much for me at the mo - will wait until the price drops as I'm very sure the dollar rate will hit $1.70+ later in the year.

you havent seriously got some stock of them ordered?

no one will pay anywhere near that price for upto 7 fps more than a 5770

was hoping to crossfire my 5850, not a chance at them prices....was doing good at £215 almost RRP.

looking a the spec's they look to be 5770's with the 58xx GPU, and cost the same as what the 5850's did, OCUK are not to blame for the prices as every other store will be the same, but still very over priced, they are £170 cards really.

Stupid pricing on these. Just as pointless as the 4830 was. Guess these won't be shifting very fast, unless people are really stupid to buy one when you can get a 5850 for only a few quid more.
