ATI X1950 Review Roundup Summaries!!

i think the xt will still be quicker tbh!

This is the x1900gt's replacement! and the GT was slower than the 1800xt by a decent bit!

if you crossfire you will see a performance leap!

I'd stick with what you've got - this is a mid range card, for those of us still on below-average cards who will be impressed by min 30fps at 1280x1024!! :D
 
I have to confess being somewhat surprised by the price of them. Reviews indicate an estimated RRP of £150 and a street price of £135, perhaps OCUK are on "premium" for being the 1st to stock them?

the 1950 pro is not faster than a x1900xt and never will be , it is a cut down core a r570 core with leass shaders etc than the x1900xt

this is what i hate about graphics cards just now the names! it is about time ati and nvidia got a huge kick up the ass for this naming insanity that confusses the hell out of people! :rolleyes:
you would think cause a 1950 pro is a higher number than a 1900 xt that the pro is a bigger better card , but it is crap!( the names not the card ) :p
 
X1900XT 256mb vs X1950 Pro 512mb

If you look at comparisons of the 512mb X1900XT and the 256mb X1900XT there appears to be a noticable performance deficit, much more so than the X1800XT. I'm guessing the 512mb version of the X1950 Pro will fall somewhere between the X1950 Pro 256mb version and the X1900XT 256mb and will actually be a better performer than the X1900XT 256mb especially at higher resolutions and in crossfire with 512mb of memory to play with.

Save your pennies for the 512mb version and hope the price premium for the extra 256mb of memory isn't outrageous (like the X1800XT and the X1900XT).

Talking of the 512mb version, Gibbo will OC'ers be stocking the HIS X1950 Pro with 512MB?
 
The reviews think that this card will be the "best choice at the $200 price point".

But $200 is around £105.

Yet all these cards are ~£150? Am I missing something?

your right the cards do seem expensive even compared to x1900xt!
 
I'm not complaining... the card's a stonker :D

It's just that at the £105 price point it would be far and ahead the best thing for the money, instead it's joined the market at the price point where the X1800XT stamps all over it.

Seems to me like ATi have got this one wrong :confused:
 
Not really they don't make x1800 any more and some places the x1800 cost a lot more than oc's, it is to replace the x1900gt(i think)and is a lot better card
 
stuff alllways costs a lil more over here so you can add few quid on for that and also the stuff on overclockers site are the more deluxe versions for over clockers and enthusiasts not the bog standard ones soo can add a lil extra for that aswell :) hence how come they cost what they do :)

cheapest i have seen for a bog standard 1950 pro 256 is £134. not that they are in stock lol

Only real advantage seems to be the new Crossfire, and die process shrink.

I mean think about it, if someone asks "How should I spend £160 on a PCIe graphics card", are you gonna tell them to go X1950 Pro, or X1800XT - with better performance and £20 change?

It needs to be £30-£40 cheaper to be competitive IMO.

dont forget it runs cooler, and uses less power and is a hell of a lot quiter.
but if you after just performance then yep have to agree.
