Anybody knows if ATI has any plans to bring out something similar to 3D vision? ATI brought eyefinity first but nvidia responded in a few months so why isn't ATI doing the same with 3D? I'm thinking of switching back to nvidia just for the 3D capability.

aren't they leaving it upto 3rd party companies for 3d support

great. if thats true we''ll never get proper support.. ATI needs to realise that sometimes they need to put their hands in their pockets and not leave it up to so called "open standards" and 3rd party support.

TBH 3D Vision is mostly a waste of time, very cool effect but not particularly convenient for day to day gaming.

I wouldn't hold your breath for an ATI solution - things like this they usually make a big noise about then nothing happens.
its not just games its bluray 3D movies as well.

Just another gimmick like physx. After reports from friends who have used it I really am not interested. Hope they concentrate on brining out good value performing cards.

the majority of reports are extremely positive and neither physX or 3D are gimmicks. they just need to be implemented properly.

fair enough but yours is but one opinion and mw2 and quake with an opengl hack running at 60fps physics are hardly the best test of it. everyone who's tested mine has been blown away by it but then again i showed them things like stone giant bench, mafia 2 demo, just cause 2, left4dead 2, metro 2033 etc that were mostly designed for 3D

yeah these kind of games are great in 3D. Competitive online games like mw2, quake or sc2 should be played in 2D.

Yeah I saw that games take quite a hit in the fps department when 3D is enabled but what can I do?. I don't have a SLI motherboard and ATI don't do 3D (yet) so I just went for a 480gtx that I thought might clock quite well. I hope it runs the 3D ok anyways:eek:

you should be fine as long as you can tolerate fps lower than 60. the 480 is a powerful gpu.
