What do you guys reckon on this:

PIN NUMBER REVERSAL (GOOD TO KNOW)

If you should ever be forced by a robber to withdraw money from an ATM
machine, you can notify the police by entering your Pin # in reverse.

For example if your pin number is 1234 then you would put in 4321.

The ATM recognizes that your pin number is backwards from the ATM card
you placed in the machine.

The machine will still give you the money you requested, but unknown to
the robber, the police will be immediately dispatched to help you.

This information was recently broadcasted on TV and it states that it is seldom used because people don't know it exists.

*only works if you drove to the ATM and exceeded the speed limit.

Looks like a hoax, good idea though.

In an ideal world all systems that required a user to gain access would have systems in place to determine if a user was gaining access under duress.

good point ;)

Lol, surely you'd just change you're pin? Could it not also be used in a fraud though? Do it, a mate pretends to rob you, you then claim it was stolen etc? Although this would only work if there was some sort of compensation scheme.

Definitely a hoax... at least with the ATMs we use where I work, and any ATMs for other institutions I deal with.

Unless the police were hiding round the back of the ATM, I can't see the point in this idea in any case.
