Connection: 100mbit/s (verified pumping 95mbit +)
Hardware: Asrock ION N330 1.6 ghz

I use Astraweb as provider and I am using SSL.

Now with SSL enabled, throughput is arround 5500-6000KB/s. At this time, poor 1.6ghz cpu is at 100% and then some.
Without SSL enabled, throughput is at arround 11000-12000 KB/S.

Is this true that Atoms don't have enough power for SSL connections with 100Mb internet?

.

Speaking as the owner of a mind numbingly slow netbook, I can easily believe it. Atoms are extraordinarily underpowered CPUs for anything tougher than light web browsing.

LOL , Thanks :)

The more i read about the Atoms the worse they seem to be and not as good as the reviews try and make them out to be.

As above, sorry to inform you but the atom really is quite underpowered. Cheap 775 board and e3200 may serve you a treat if you wanted something more powerful yet low power.

I run 3 Atom systems here. 2xHTPCs with Nvidia ION/ION2 running xbmc which are perfect and one as my firewall (to an 80/20 FTTC connection). They do what they do well. Low power (2 of these machines are totally passive) and they will move data from one point to another. One of the HTPCs also has a dual sat tuner PCI-e card in it. I'm more than happy with them, but do realise they have limitations (which is why my main workstation is an i7-2600K...).
