Atomfall

Growing up as a West Cumbrian 'living in the shadow', I'm very tempted by this.

Is there just a northern UK feel to the game, or does it have any of the real locales ?
I’d say more of the former, a lot of NPC’s have Northern(like) accents (think yanks trying to sound British) and made up place names. I would say a lot of it is an attempt at humour in a tongue in cheek sort of way.

cheers - I think I'll wait until it's in the bargain bin.

I'd love to hear some west cumbrian farmer accents in a game, but it'd need subtitles

Playing at 1440P, increased resolution scaling to 150%, does a nice jump of getting rid of some of the shimmering in places. Found a few more training manuals dotted around but need to get more Training Stimulants to unlock the skills, exploring in this game is a must as there is so much to discover tucked away in the maps with the bunkers/cellars and what have you.

Ok I've gone from this game sucks to ok it's not too bad to this is bloody brilliant
I did too but then I suddenly got turned off it.
Something about the way I try to fit the 'notes/quests' together. It's really hard to work out what's relevant to what.
I guess I'm nearing an end point as I seem to have to decide a certain way to go and accidentally followed an old clue that nearly sent me down the way I didn't want to go.
That plus all the back tracking that used to be fun but is just a chore now.

Finished it today. 7.5/10 in my opinion.

Absolutely a solid game, if a bit short. Very well polished at released, zero bugs or issues experienced in my play through. Graphically pleasing with some fantastic scenery that I think fit its vibe but very dated feeling. Very enjoyable story, just lacked a bit of depth and variety. Would I play again or play any DLC, probably not. However I enjoyed my playthrough.

The more I play the more I'm loving this game. What an absolute gem! Horribly underrated imo.
In what way underrated..?

I thought that it had done well..?

Oh cool I just didn't think it was that popular but if it is that's great. We need more games like this.

This is pretty much my experience too.

I was finding it a pain to actually play for a while. Like, why is this game making *everything* feel so inconvenient, but at some point I just got onboard with the limited inventory, the fact that combat is clunky and unpredictable and the need to manually keep track of goals, locations, leads and so on.

There are some QoL issus that would fit the game's style and systemsm though. For instance, I get not having "?" icons all over the map, but why can't I manually add notes and points to it beyond one single unlabelled marker?

The enemy respawn mechanic *really* needs fixing, too. Not sure how it works, but it seems enemies either repawn when you load a game. Or it randomises enemy patrol patterns every reload, I can't be sure. I've had a couple of occasions where I've saved after clearing an area, died shortly afterwards and loaded back in to find both the dead bodies I'd already dispatched AND a whole host of newly spawned enemies.

Yesterday I noticed that the enemies who spawned back in might have been the ones who were in another location when I saved, since they were no longer in that second place in my reloaded game. However it works, though, it's janky, odd and annoying.

And having some of the bullet spongy feral/glowy eye enemies respawn in a game with finite and limited resources just doesn't work. I can imagine it could be possible to end up in a position where you have no way of getting more ammo, healing or other resources if this goes particularly badly.

But despite these gripes, I'm really enjoying the game now. I've even got a page of handwritten notes to keep track of quests, locations and things to come back to - old-school style! :)

Not sure if it's just me, or the difficulty I'm playing on (Survivor). Tried a google, but no dice. Is there any way to unload guns? I'll get a lovely new shiny one dropped, but will have ammo loaded into my current gun, is there anyway of unloading it to keep the ammo? Also, Don't know if anyone else finds this, but every gun dropped has 0 bullets, which is rather frustrating during a big fight as I'm otherwise scrabbling about searching through cupboards for ammo!

All in all loving it though, do find it rather hard to keep track of tasks and mostly just accidentally stumble through it, which is refreshing, but wish there was more of a hint at which direction to go if needed.

Hmm, wherever I switch guns in the inventory it made me reload the new one, I assumed because it unloaded the old one (?)
