Atomfall

Another annoyance: Now I have th eperk to upgrade guns I suddenly realise I need more than one matching gun (and quality) to upgrade it. However, I can't just keep spare ones in my inventory as there's only 4 spaces for proper guns and I'm using them all. I then have to drop several guns, pick up matching guns, upgrade them to the next quality level, then match up more similar quality ones all whilst still juggling stuff in range of wandering enemies.

Anyway, despite enjoying most of it, the annoyances have weighed me down. Uninstalled.
I may even give Starfield another go as I did the same with that. They may have some more fun mods to try out. Saves me from cancelling Gamepass for now.

Oh yeah, that is another things that's a bit weird and annoying!

I was aware we'd be able to upgrade guns, but I erroneously assumed that that was what all that "scrap" I'd been picking up all over the place was for. But nope. Or at least it kind of is, but not sufficient.

Fortunately, my in-game hoarding habits served me well here, as I had been dumping weapons in the storage cache whenever I could, thinking I might sell them at some point. But yeah, assuming you didn't do that (which is a fair assumption!) you'd suddenly need to find four copies of each rusty weapon to upgrade it to pristine!

The idea of a pneumatic tube storage is kind of neat and gets around the hand-wavy magical shared storage problem lots of games have by thinking up something that is setting-appropriate (provided you don't think too hard about how it would acutally work...), but they're much too scare and you can't even mark them on your map when you've found them.

I’ve been doing the same, kept a few of the guns I’ve found along the way, initially I’d been storing them for trade, glad I did now so I can use them for upgrades etc.

And my tactic for dealing with glowy eyed ferals, let them get close, kick and then head shot whilst they’re stunned, single bullet is usually enough. And for everything else, kick and axe. The kick in this game is stupidly strong.

I'm about 8 hours in. I would say you start to find your way after about 2 or 3 hours. The exploration is a bit like Fallout, but with Tomb Raider level of crafting, and an emphasis on not much ammo. I quite often think I've built up a decent amount of ammo, only to use almost all of it on a group of bandits.
The graphics are semi-basic, but the environments look great. I'm getting well over 100fps at 1440p on Ultra on my 7800XT. The voice acting is great.

I didn't realise the storage tubes are all connected, and everything you put in is available at any one of them.. doh!
Yeah the upgrading is a bit annoying, I'll just start stashing spare weapons into the tubes then.

The one thing I find annoying is the maps. It's hard to tell which exit on a map leads to which other area. You have to track a lead in that area so it shows you which exit to take.

I think the maps being not always 100% clear on where to go is one of the game's strengths. It forces you to try and see or figure out routes for yourself which in turn immerses you further as you start becoming intimately familiar with the lay out and know where to go by memory alone. Makes it feel more like a real place. I wish more games where more vague like this instead of sign posting everything.

Just finished it, got about 24hrs out of it.

Enjoyed what I played but wouldn't do another play through.

Didnt have any technical issues and the game ran great for the whole play though, credit to the devs for that.

Just seen there is a 5.2GB update for this on GP, no idea what the fixes are as I have not had a look yet. I am finding the inventory too small that's for sure!
