Atrial Fibrillation - any decent forums?

I do 30 minutes in my exercise bike when I can, have had no problems with af and exercise. Always had attacks when in relaxing situations which didn't make any sense, for example out having a quiet drink (non-alcoholic) or out for a meal or just lazing around.

Are any of our AF sufferers undergoing anticoagulation therapy ?

I was on warfarin before getting af but the doctors would have prescribed anticoag therapy if I had not have been. It's to prevent mini-clots forming when an attack happens and the clots resulting in a stroke. I've had DVTs in the past so now on life-long warfarin.

This is my experience too. I used to cycle 20 miles a day to work and back during the period when I had my first episode, but it was after a weekend while I was relaxing in front of a film that it happened out of the blue. It was during Oktoberfest and I'd had a few days on the beers the week before.

I was diagnosed as having persistent afib a couple of months ago, but I think it's been persistent for about at least six months as this is when I started to notice the problems after exercise.

For a couple of years before that though I had, on occasion, noticed an irregular heart beat, usually bought on after too many nights boozing, stress or fatigue. When I mentioned this to my GP he put it down to my anxiety (which I have suffered from for for over 10 years) but it was never irregular when he checked, so never taken seriously.

Exercise generally never effected my Afib when it was paroxysmal but does now that it's persistent!

Does anyone else have persistent Afib and manage exercise ok?
