Cry more please Mr. Emo.

Don't push me or I'll cut your wrists aswel as mine, then we can write poetry and dye each others hair black and tumble dry our jeans two sizes smaller.

Not another emo thread

Awaits the horrific picture of the gang of what I'd call "chav" with the same haircut tbh

It is still following a trend or a fashion, expressing yourself and your individuality by conforming to a stereotype?

I think either i misunderstood you or visa versa.
Basically what im saying is they fall into the age old trap of non-comformist all conforming to be non conformist.
It is like you say just another trend and a terrible one at that.

The post i quoted said you had to fit perfectly in the middle or be hounded as an emo or chav. I think its about being yourself, but this brings about the point is it possible?

Im wearing a pair of blue levis, and a black t-shirt, no logo, i do have a lot of general fashion t-shirts, but this is the general theme, i have short spikey hair.
Do i fit into a group because i have no choice but to buy stuff that is fashionable? ( i cant exactly make my own clothes, and most nice ones are branded)
Admitently these types take it to the extremes with the hair and makeup, and thus makes them look rather stupid, mostly noteably they all seem to be between the age of 14-18, which generally is the time you try and work out your place in the world.
As long as they dont get in my face il leave them to it.

Still that is better than chavs by a long shot.
Defiantly, I would much rather run into a group of emo's than chavs. I just don't see why these people can't be a bit more normal...

You can always be yourself, if being yourself is being an emo for example then do that. Just don't say that you're trying to be individual, because clearly that isn't true.

Bondage trousers, Doc's, Mohican, ripped up T-Shirt - stereotypical punk. But it looks good and I enjoyed dressing that way for a long time. It didn't hurt on the female front and although it attracted aggression I didn't exactly mind that either.

Just wear whatever you want, don't overanalyse it and how it makes you appear, don't dress to hide away or to fit in or to belong. Just wear the things you like and be yourself. One way or another you'll probably broadly fit a stereotype of some description.

Whether you're noticed for being Emo, hated for being a chav or simply not noticed and just part of the wallpaper as a nobody is all irrelevent if you're happy in yourself.

Some people TRY incredibly HARD to be an individual and to be honest I think that's about as sad as being a chav. The only reason to do anything in terms of clothes and music is because you like it, who cares what anyone else thinks.

Don't try to impress by trying to outwierd or out tattoo or out pierce, I always disliked the "ooooh look at me I've just had my scrotum pierced aren't I hip/crazy/mad/hard" crew. Or the little girls who get their tongues pierced and simply can't go 2 minutes without sticking their tongues out to attract attention.

Anyway those are the musings of someone who goes to see 30 year old bands so you shouldn't take to much notice of me. I only ever did the things I wanted to because I enjoyed them, I was never interested with outdoing anyone in terms of being more weird, doing more drugs, drinking more beer, having more tats or being more aggressive.

I just did the things I wanted to and I think that's the best way to be, for others they just want to fit in and be accepted to have a tribe and the remainder want to stand out and be noticed and followed. Just be who you are, the rest comes naturally.

I only recognise The Damned and Sham69 out of that list :D

Your loss to be honest :p
I still go and see the Damned as often as I can, top band.
The meteors were utterly mental back in the day, many a good night has been had to their music lol.
GBH, UK SUBS and the Subhumans were THE punk bands to have on your leather back in the mid 80's (along with a CRASS logo).

Ahh good memories, why not look a few of those bands up you might like it.
