Attention F@H Beta Testers

In contrast to what people have been reporting for the Linux client, this seems to use 100% CPU.

Testing now (Core Duo 1.66)

Initial results (one frame done, million other processes running)

Core Duo 1.66: 751 PPD (1440 pts, 27m 37s/frame)

It doesn't look very good.. but it's only a 1.66 lappy with slow RAM and the CoreDuo has pretty naff SSE compared to C2D, so I reckon you can easily expect double that on a C2D >3GHz.

Sticking with linux for the moment then, unless they nerf it :(

Thats only on a 1.66 LOL

And anyone having trouble? I get to the 2nd command to put in and it errors, and I assume the 1st one could be aswell :(

Probably need to restart but i CBA ill stay linux for a while

Right...

I wonder how linear the ppd/clock speed is. Double the clock to get double the points? Increase in fsb/mem will help bump it up too I expect.

Say you had an E6700 at 3.33Ghz - that would be 333*10, double the clock and FSB of my 166*10. My RAM is DDR2-533 with rubbish timings, so with decent RAM plus the SSE improvements..

There are some quite nice C2D results in the beta forum but I dunno if I'm allowed to post them.

Yeah, it took them two weeks to let my group and me into the beta forum. I bet yours will be faster becasue of the new stuff though.

I hope so just installed Windows 64bit on a new folding machine and waiting for this :)
