Attention Fox .... and all other Mondeo experts

ST200's are very expensive for an old shape Mondeo but they are very nice, very rare cars and at least hold their value well. You've picked the rarest of all - there were just 100 Ltd Edition Saloon models, IIRC. That or 500.

Not really picked, been driving past it every morning for over a week. It doesn't seem to be advertised anywhere, even locally but apparently the seller wants a quick sale as he's moving to Australia - strange. From what I've read there were 300 LEs, interior looks gorgeous :). My sister's just bought a new car, two year itch with my Xsara and the fact that it is local are all contributing factors I reckon.

Want to see how it drives and sounds now, probably on Friday, and check that the ride is OK for the fairly poor roads up here.

Thing that makes me laugh is the "best handling in it's class" thing.

It's like being top of your class. A worthy accolade, marred only by the fact you get the sunshine bus to school.
Eh

Best in class is of huge significance. Every car is built to perform in a certain class/size/price bracket and so on. To excel in your field is a good thing. If nobody tried to make cars that were good compared to the others in their class then we'd have a range of Daewoo Espero clones or something.

Your old Integra for example. Arguably the best car in it's class.

But it's not as good as a Koeniggsegg is it? Or a McLaren F1, or a Bugatti Veyron!

So therefore it's a complete ****box and people who wax lyrical about its fine-tuned FWD chassis are wasting their breath, surely?

My point there was that here the Mondeo is "sold" with a glass half full approach - yes it's best in it's class, head and shoulders over the Vectra etc, won awards left right and centre blah blah blah.

This is fine, but the way this is delivered here people being to lose sight of that fact it's class is pretty dull.
