Here is a profile for you to enjoy gaming with the same ergonomics as a right hander if not better. No more having to slide your keyboard to the far right and awkwardly using wasd.

p - walk forward
l - strafe left
; - back pedal
' - strafe right

That's your basic WASD colony. Next is reloading etc.

i - reload
o - use
[ - quickswitch
k - flashlight

That's general FPS games like half life.

Now the interesting advantage for lefties. You have a big enter key and a shift key plus a # key to use with your pinky. You could set enter to crouch which works very well because your hand lays flat naturally. Unlike a right hander who has to stretch their pinky to the ctrl or use their thumb to press c.

So in say CS:S you can crouch jump with Enter and Space very nicely. Or you could map enter to run in cod or use # to run which leaves your hand resting without even having to move.

I use AltGr as walk in css and enter as crouch, works really well. You can use # as tab for scores or enter as inventory for RPGs.

It's better than using the numpad it's too sqaure and nothing beats spacebar for jump.

So yeah this is better than a right handed setup imo. I know right handers can remap too but generally it's perfect as it is that's why it's default in most games.

Did you actually think no left handed people had looked at the keyboard and found a few keys in the same layout as WASD but in a more comfortable position :p

Me and my sister used to play Serious Same 1 co-op on one mouse and keyboard, me on arrow keys + mouse and her using WASD for movement and YGHJ for aiming :D

I think we need to alert the worlds gaming media to this discovery - if only you lefties could work a phone etc... :p

ps3ud0

Do any left handers just learn to use their right hand instead or does that not work out. I hear scissors always require using the 'wrong hand' in order to work

No more having to slide your keyboard to the far right

Simple tip for everyone pretty much, just get a smaller keyboard. Theres no benefit to a full size one in a game presuming you have average dexterity, full size keys arent really needed

I have no numpad on mine, I never used it and numpad button switches a few letters over if I ever did. Width of my keyboard is a about stretched hand span, little finger to thumb
and it works fine for typing anyway 30wpm

I'm left handed for everything, but I use my right hand for the mouse, just feels more natural to me for some reason, also means I don't have to buy specific left handed mice and I can use any computer without faffing about.

One quick thing, people who use WASD don't use their thumb to press the C key, that's ridiculous.

It's not just about smaller keyboards it's about how awkward using WASD is with your right hand, espesh jumping.

I can use my right hand for everything like scissors etc but I game/write with my left hand.

Deko you only forced yourself to use your right hand, you are limiting yourself.

If they don't use their thumb that means they have to take a finger off WASD to crouch. With my layout you can still move every direction whilst crouching.

Well, I never forced myself at all, from I was about 6 and I used a PC for the first time I used my right hand on the mouse, at no point have I ever thought "I wish I used my left hand for this", I've even tried it before and it just feels terrible. It might be better for you, but don't assume that everyone who is left handed is 'limiting' themselves because you happen to find a left handed mouse better.

Left hand is for mouse, right mouse for arrow keys. Quick keys for Reload, Use, etc are what NUMPAD 0, DELETE, END, PAGEDOWN, PAGE UP, HOME and INSERT were designed for. Crouch is RightControl too.

That's what my side buttons are for on the mouse, crouch and prone :).

The only problem with that is it affects your aim having to press other buttons on your mouse. If you need to crouch and shoot at same time it's not as accurate as crouching independently.

You are limiting yourself though, you're left handed so your full ability lies within your left hand. You think with the left side of your brain and your hand to eye co-ordination would be better using the left hand together. You just got good at using your right hand. A shame that you had to adapt to the right handed world, just think if you used your natural hand since you was 6.

You use another mouse to walk about? That's ace.

i've been using that key cominbation for a long time now.

its just annoying how u have to remap your keys for every game.

ill have to look into creating profiles for my keyboard thou so i can map WASD to different keys so i dont have to keep remaping keys in games

I'm also a lefty, and use my right hand for the mouse.

I don't use my thumb to press the C ket though.

You've got 16 keys sitting on the number pad perfectly positioned for movement in a nice little bunch by themselves, right where your right hand normally comes to rest anyway. Just tried the combo you posted up and it's awful :p

8 forward
5 back
4 strafe left
6 strafe right
3 duck
2 prone
0 jump

7 and 9 are usually UP and DOWN for flying vehicles, / is reload, the right arrow is very handy as a vent button, and + for grenades.

It's like they made the numberpad specially for me to play fps on :D
