Attention Lefties!

Left handed, mouse left hand, WASD.

I could change I suppose but I am so used to it now it does not cause me any issues. Vent key is always F as well.

I thought left-handed mouse users either would use numpad , arrow keys or what I've also seen is ijkl instead of wasd
Saying that I'm leftie but go my mouse in the right hand just feels more normal to me :)

I always thought it was strange that it the olden days of Amigas and megadrives, you use a joystick and joypad the opposite way round hand-wise but no one ever gave it a second thought, they just swapped between them.

If they don't use their thumb that means they have to take a finger off WASD to crouch. With my layout you can still move every direction whilst crouching.

CTRL = Crouch, spit on those devs who put C default! :P
If you can't remap it, hope for a crouch toggle!

I'm a left handed writer but use the mouse in my right hand, if anything I'm more selective to certain tasks, ambidextrous in others.

Years ago I read an article about pro FPS players and it was said that most used the right mouse button for forward movement. I tried it and have never changed.

You've got 16 keys sitting on the number pad perfectly positioned for movement in a nice little bunch by themselves, right where your right hand normally comes to rest anyway. Just tried the combo you posted up and it's awful :p

8 forward
5 back
4 strafe left
6 strafe right
3 duck
2 prone
0 jump

7 and 9 are usually UP and DOWN for flying vehicles, / is reload, the right arrow is very handy as a vent button, and + for grenades.

It's like they made the numberpad specially for me to play fps on :D

I tried it, two problems. First of all to jump with the O means you have to bend your thumb inwards, my layout let's your thumb stretch out naturally. Second to crouch you have to bend your pinky inwards to press 3. If I was going to use your layout I would map Down Arrow Key to jump and Enter to crouch. This gives your hand a much more relaxed posture than being all cramped up. Try it :)

I've always (since it was possible anyway) used the insert/home/page group for movement. Your hand falls naturally on a whole host of useful keys in that area.

Most games are happy enough to allow you to reconfigure all those keys, but it can be a real pain when you find one that doesn't. Dead Space was one.

However since Gareth's thread I have reconsidered my definition of "a real pain". I can barely manage to use my chin to stop my teeth falling off the edge of my face, let alone using it to control a mouse.

Left hand is for mouse, right mouse for arrow keys. Quick keys for Reload, Use, etc are what NUMPAD 0, DELETE, END, PAGEDOWN, PAGE UP, HOME and INSERT were designed for. Crouch is RightControl too.

This is what I've got used to as well. pl;' just doesn't space my hands out enough so my right arm is angled inwards and all uncomfortable.

NUM. for reload, Del/PgDn for lean, END for use, numpad for quick weapons/abilities, NUM0 jump and right shift crouch. Leaves the enter and right shift free for melee/flashlight/sprint.

Can't see myself ever getting use to anything else. Been using this set-up for 10 years.

Finally, a topic for us liberal gamers!

Just got back from an awesome rally and now I think I'll toke up a J while playing my FemShep in Mass Effect 2
