Hi,

Quick question,

I have just got a second hand audi a3 1.6 technik (105ps).

I am thinking of taking it in for a remap but I am unsure what kind of improvements I am likely to see.
I am not wanting miracles just a little more oomph for pulling out etc..Is it likely I can get 0-60 in close to 10s and if the remap isnt enough what would it take?
Currently I think it is 11.7.

Thanks

usually TDis are more responsive to a remap, with greater hp and acceleration gains. Do a search for companies that offer a remap handset through the post and it should list the improvements to expect for your specific car.

A 105bhp 1.6 petrol!? Remap will add about 5bhp if he is lucky.

If its diesel it'll help a bit more I guess, it sure as hell won't drop 2 seconds from a 0-60. Anyone who buys a 1.6 TDI vag deserves all they get

Oh and save towards doesn't mean the next car will be 400 quid more

It's a diesel, and a remap to c. 130 HP (20% ish) would likely see 0-60 in 10 seconds - 1.7 seconds isn't much of a drop when it's taking 11.7 seconds. 5s to 3.3s on the other hand, would take >+50% more power.

Do you even know if its geared to be able to do a storming 10 second 0-60? I can tell you from experience that adding 30ish bhp to a diesel absolutely will not take that kind of time away from 0-60. OK so i was starting from a more powerful base and there will be diminishing returns but you would have been lucky if there was half a second off the civic 0-60 by adding nearly 40bhp.

Do the same simple calcs on a civic diesel with +40bhp

What does a Civic have to do with this? The OP's car has 105 HP and remaps to over 130 HP - 24% boost. To go from 11.7s to 10s to 60 requires appx. 20% more power. The gearing will be fine - likely ideal as it'll nicely use 3rd for the 0-60 sprint.

Thanks for all the replys guys.
I guess il just go for it and see what happens. Forgot to mention that it's a petrol and going by Parker's site the 1.6 fsi with 113bhp can do it in 10.6 so surely with +10 il get there too right ?

small NA engines see little to no gain at all from remapping. The big gains are had from engines with turbo's. my vw caddy van has a 1.9tdi engine and was 105bhp standard. it mapped to 150bhp.

you'll see a slightly improved torque curve and maybe 1-3bhp gain. really not worth it at all

I remapped my Audi 1.9 TDI with a swedish remap code and difference is night and day but there's a lot more to adjust when there's a turbo and intercooler.

Celtic tuning quote circa 150hp from the remap, their figures are usually pretty accurate :)

50bhp more from a 1.6 diesel with a simple remap?!?

If that's true then that'll transform the car.

How long the injectors, dual mass flywheel, clutch, and turbocharger will last, mind you, is another story...
