Audi a3

*1.4

I know this is parkers and 0-60 times aren't the be all and end all but:

Audi A3 Hatchback (03 on) 1.6 S Line 3d
Engine Size: 1595 cc
Cylinders: 4
0-60 mph: 11.4 s
Power Output: 100 bhp
Valves: 8
Torque: 148 Nm/109 lb-ft
Top Speed: 115 mph

Ford Fiesta (95-99) 1.4 Zetec 3d
Engine Size: 1388 cc
Cylinders: 4
0-60 mph: 10.8 s
Power Output: 88 bhp
Valves: 16
Torque: 125 Nm
Top Speed: 112 mph

:D

There we are conclusive proof that after taking an ass wooping from a Fiesta, the Audi driver should see the error of his way :D

Was this not the person asking about going the insurance of a mobility Audi, or have i got that wrong?

I don't recall. However I do worry at "BarryyBoyy's" (seriously, wasn't the correct number of y's enough?) sense of taste and what might happen to the car.

Just dont! Get something else entirely like a sub £1000 car since you are going to dang it somewhere and you're insurance is going to be expensive.

But why would he choose to do that if his parents are paying for his car? If I was being bought a £10k car I wouldn't mind stretching another £500-1000 to be able to insure it.

Good luck to him, I'm sure his A3 would be a very decent first car regardless of what engine he chooses.

Where does he say his parents are buying his car?

The point is that he can only insure crap cars, therefore he shouldnt spend all the money on one, he should spend a bit on one, keep the rest, then when he can insure a good car, he's got the money to buy one with.

Thing is its not just another odd 500 its a couple thousand, thats why we drew the line at a Mini One/Golf for me daughter, not lack of money just a dislike of actually throwing it in the toilet.

If you don't care about the pace of the vehicle but care about nice interiors and the image that comes with having an Audi S-Line, I'd imagine the 1.6 diesel would be amongst the cheapest you could possibly insure on that car.

Buy a golf then and save some money.

isnt the image supposed to be that its quick?

Decent Audis have got the great reputation, the stupid little ones have a naff reputation, so why bother, get a Golf if you must buy German.

so theyre for people that want to give them impression of having a quick car but in reality they have the tiniest diesel you can buy.

now thats a bad image IMO

It doesn't quite have the cachet of an Audi though. But then a 1.6d doesn't have much cachet either.

Apprently not exclusively that, otherwise they wouldn't let you buy a 1.6 diesel S-Line.

No lie, when i see A3 and Golf i just dont see any image difference whatsoever now, VW have pulled Golfs right up in this last incarnation.

Iv got a new shape one out there a diesel auto, the car drives blinding, absolutely superb, even that 2006 one me daughter has got has got a good feel to it.

I see the image thing between Skoda and VW , but not Audi A3 and VW.

It's purely an assumption, on the face of it this would seem the most likely scenario but of course that could be totally wrong.

I wouldn't call a 2 year old 1.6 A3 crap especially for his age. It's all relative really. If he came in to this thread and said he was looking at the 3.2 at 19 he'd get slated for having a too fast car for his age.

I agree to an extent, depends how much extra it is.
