Hi, I pick my brand new car up on Friday which I’ve been waiting 7 months for it to be made and it finally arrived today at the dealership. I did all the paper work and deposit when I when last year, I’ve got it on pcp just wondering when they carry out the credit check ! Was it then or will it be when I go pick it up. Thanks

Normally they'd have done a credit check before going forward with the sale - do you have follow up paperwork for the finance agreement with the terms, etc. ?

EDIT: No harm phoning or emailing the sales person though to make sure everything is in order - also gives you a good idea as to the standards of the place if they take forever to get back to you, etc.

Yes all paper work was signed with payments and documentation outlining new car.

My VW finance check never showed up on any of the credit report sites but the sales man said I'd passed before we'd signed any paperwork which makes sense.

They wouldn't get the car ordered without knowing you'll get the finance.

It’s made been waiting 7 months just arrived yesterday, they sent me a email to sign for registration of the vehicle keeper also.

I've had 2 PCP's (never again) and neither showed a check on my credit record. I also had home improvements on finance and that didn't show up either. I can only imagine the lender already "knows" you so a check by a third party credit agency isn't required ?

Why never again ?

Probably opening a can of worms here, but PCP is generally considered the second 'most expensive' way of paying for a car, behind leasing, once you factor in deposit, cost of finance, depreciation, maintenance, damage charges, chance of negative equity at end of the term etc.

That's not to say I haven't done it myself, but I'd prefer to avoid it in future too.

Have you checked all credit agencies.

Transunion - Seems to be the newer used one
Equifax
Experian

There's no requirement for companies to share with all but the agencies can share between themselves which they dont do that frequently .

Strange as I've ordered a new BMW and the 'I've passed the credit checks' notification came through both as a email and a text within a week of signing the order form..
