Iv allways thought Mercedes rocked out with Audi and BMW despite what people say about there recent decline, but then as i said earlier, i dont see the big fuss about any of the big names.

It's a tough one, choosing between the big three teutonics...

But if forced:

'70s - Merc
'80s - early '90s - BMW
Early '90s - Present Day - Audi.

It will come as a suprise to most of you on here (who still to this day think I'm some sort of Ford fanboy even though I've pointed out many times I dislike more or less everything they've ever made bar the Mondeo and Focus) that I am not a BMW fanboy and that actually, I like Audi's.

Infact, I'd chose an Audi A3 over a BMW 1 Series, and I'd have an A8 over an 02-05 7 Series.

If you put a gun to my head and forced me to spend my own money on a cheap banger prestige car I'd also pick an old A4 over an E36 3 Series.

As said by others, it depends on the exact cars and/or price points you're on about but generally I'd go Audi 8 times out of 10, BMW 2 times out of 10 and Merc 0 times out of 10

Both marques have their strengths and weaknesses and it all depends on your priorities.

BMW's are far too ugly of late, I cannot stand the 7, 6, 1, X3 or X5. The 5 series has grown on me though and the 3 series isnt all that bad.

Anyway, I'd have an Audi anyday. RS4 yes please! I don't care that a new M3 will be out soon either, as it wont be long before Audi beats that too.

Isn't the sportback a fair bit more? Rember when the missus was looking it wasn't far off A4 money

Yes it will, it will be a long, long time before Audi catches up. It always is. Same story.

BMW bring out M3. Beats everything.

Towards end of M3's life, Audi bring out S or RS4. Previously equalled old M3's, now it's finally managed it.

Oh look, here comes the new M3..
