I am currently looking at options for the financeé and she really likes the idea of a softroader (XC60/Q5 etc).

One thing I have noticed is that they really seem to hold their value, with 3-4 year old sub 40k s-line examples going for £22-24k and 1 year old s-lines going for £30k.

Broadspeed are advertising being able to buy a new s-line Q5 for £32k, is it worth considering buying new and selling at 3 years old as opposed to buying 2-3 years old and selling at 5-6 years old? It sounds like it will only work out a few k more over 3 years which is little more than the cost of adding a warranty to a 3 year old example.
