I'm very tempted by the RS5. It has 4WD (I need it), performance and good looks. It's a bit heavy and the steering is criticised in a few reviews, but apart from that I think it could be a nice daily drive, especially in winter.

What do you think? Pros, cons, alternatives?

All I know is that they are eye-bleedingly beautiful and the few drawbacks couldn't outweigh that for me.

Order. :)

I've seen the RS5 receive nothing but criticism unfortunately. It's not that its a bad car, far from it, in isolation it is a truely stunning car, but relative to the competition it seems to be a let down.

4WD = yucky steering feel, never really bothered me too much - ok so you don't get the feedback, but in all honesty with 4wd grip do you really need feedback?

I'm warming to Audi's, probably the old age. 4wd is a winner in the winter and I just love the last 5 years (or so) of Audi's styling, much the same as Mercedes styling is suddenly ticking boxes for me.

Put down the magazine & online reviews and let your backside decide courtesy of the nearest dealer!

I say find somewhere to test the RS5 and see if it suits you... its a stunning car to look at and Audis usually handle well in rough conditions.

What about the Cayenne Turbo?

I get the idea of an all-weather-do-anything-weapon but for it to make sense to me it must be exactly that, an all-weather-do-anything-weapon which a 2 door Coupe isn't.

Horrible looking and far too heavy.
