Audi S3 question

Hi all,

what year did the 225 version of the S3 come out in? were the 210 BHP versions stopped when the 225 versions were being made?

just tempted to get one, but not all of the adverts on autotrader state whenever there 225BHP or 210BHP

also whats the MPG like on them? I have a Clio 172 Mk2 at the moment, will the Audi cost a lot more to run?

Different car, but I can get anywhere between 16 and 40MPG each tank, heavily driving style dependant. Usually its around 28MPG for the tank.

Secondly, the 210's are supposedly the stronger engine, so if you are looking to tune, take that into consideration, as they both will tune to the same state.

The Audi will cost more to service, and more to shod with tyres, but other than that they are pretty average in costs to run.

You tried driving an LCR to compare to the S3?

I get about 18 to 22 MPG on my 225 TT.

I found my S3 (210 bhp) to be pretty frugal. It averaged around 34 m.p.g. (not too much town driving) and 38 m.p.g. on longer trips (motorway).

BHP increased to 225 bhp in 2001, IIRC.

I'd love one of these too, but I'd want a late as possible all the toys low miler.. So not cheap.... Plus it'd then have to be revo'd as my Cupra is already Revo'd. Failing that AMD one click

I really like the S3s mainly because of the interior, I think on the outside they dont look "great" in photos, but look much better in the flesh

can any of you guys tell me if this is the 210BHP or the 225BHP

its done a lot of miles, need to find out if its had a cam belt and water pump change

A lot of miles? Oh come on its only on 75k, thats hardly a lot for a 6 year old car is it. Infact it's about smack on average mileage.

I am saving up for one of these so should be able to get one next year. The Leon is 5 door and I am not keen on 5 door hatchbacks.

Not sure about that. The S3 was given "only" 210 bhp to make it less than the 225 bhp in the TT, but it was the same engine only de-tuned.

Now the 180 bhp in the A3 quattro was meant to be significantly different?

Hi,

They changed to 225bhp in 2001. However, they also introduced the face lift model in that year too. All 225bhp's will be a facelift model, but you will find some 210bhp's to be facelift as well - like mine

They all remap to the same power though, and totally transform the car once you've done it.
