thanks for all the advice
car is for my old man
I would have thought mercedes is more mature/old man style
am I right in guessing those who go for the Beema are younger?![]()
Audi every time, much nicer.
Nicer interior, nicer to drive having driven both i prefer the audi and would have one every time.
I dont care what end the driving wheels are at, it makes no difference in real world driving in the UK (or any other country) as we are so limited in what we can do on the roads, if i want fun i have a comp car, if i want to safely and comfortably move my family about my choice is the audi.
I could give or take 95% of what Audi produce. I just look at them and think VW, which makes me want to vomit.
BMW on the other hand - the handling and balance and enjoyment is dialed in right from the factory even in the bottom of the range stuff.
Interesting. I recently went on a 2 - 3 hour journey in a 3 series BMW and found it incredibly uncomfortable. The seats were hard and it made me ache / go a bit numb. Having said that I'm not sure if it was a 'sport' interior as the seats were half leather and not full leather.. would this make them firmer? Each to their own, but most Audi's are not a patch to drive compared to most BMW's and that has a lot more to do with other stuff than which wheels are driven. They are also not as comfy on long distances, not as well damped when running sports settings and feel vague. The interiors look better but newer Audi's have gone down hill on this front too, not least the A4 and A6.
Audis are generally gash and again, in my eyes do not deserve to carry the prestige title they claim to warrant. S8 aside
I'm not fanboying as I'm considering an AMG C63 for my next car but BMWs are very very hard to beat, certainly by the likes of Audi anyway.
If you want bland go Audi.
People do seem to disagree about the seats a lot between these, and from the people I have spoken to on the whole they prefer the Audi for comfort and ride.
I drove the A4 2.5 TDI down to the french alps and found it a very good drive all the way and had some fun doing the twisty road to the resort. It is a solid car.
I drove a BMW 320 D (I know smaller engine and all but regardless of power) the level of comfort was far less and I found myself having to take more breaks as the seats were disappointing to say the least. It did not have some magical set-up for cruising this distance on motorways which made it more enjoyable and neither was it any more fun on the twists and turns up the mountain.
Just my 2p. I am not a fan boy of either, but like people to try both out as everyone wants something different from there driving experience.
IMO there is no point in asking on these forums because its full of fanboys, just go out and test drive them for yourself and decide.
