Hey all, this will be a bit long winded but bare with me!

Just purchased the above card and have had endless amounts of trouble from the start.

Basically i bought the card second hand, so all it came with was the card, the drive bay controller and the ribbon cable to link the two (no driver disk/remote etc).

So i downloaded a set of drivers and ran them, only to be told that it couldn't find the card on my system. So, i tried another 2 sets of drivers.... same issue, even though Windows was picking the card up on boot up. After that i went into "Add Hardware" in the control panel and did a search, it found the card, and after some fluffing about i managed to get it to download some drivers automatically.

After doing that, i had no sound, or atleast, none that i could hear. So i went back to the other drivers i had downloaded and tried them again, they worked this time! The install went fine and i rebooted. Got to the desktop and still no bloody sound. So i went into the volume controls and made sure everything was enabled and turned up and tried again. This time i had sound, but it was EXTREMELY quiet, i could barely hear a thing.

So to cut a long story short, i've been thru every Creative control panel i can find and double checked settings, everything seems to be enabled and turned up. My mic is working, it records fine thru sound recorder. I've been thru the whole clean drivers with driver cleaner and reinstall thing with no joy. I've tried switching my headset plug into different audio out plugs, still with no love to be had. Also my old onboard sound (Realtek AC'97) has been disabled in the BIOS, and yeah... im at my wits end at the moment, i cant sus the problem out. :(

XP - SP2.

Since starting this thread i've also tried the project kx drivers and they didn't work.

I read somewhere that the issue may be that the soundcard doesnt like NF4 motherboards?

Have you tried a different PCI slot?

This can often cause no end of funkyness and my own Creative cards also fail to sho themselves up in some setups depending on the PCI arrangement.

The only other one my board has, the card wont fit into due to some unused pins that stick out of the board. I can't remember what this particular set of pins is for, but yeah, they hit on the very end of the card and i cant get it into that actual slot.

Try Driver version 5.12.4.1196 date 8/11/2006 as the 2 latest version from creative site will not detect my card and cause problems if i ever get it to work.

From what i can gather, that driver versions filename is SBAX_WBUP2_LB_2_09_0016 and unfortunately i've already tried that set. :(

Just tested it in a mates PC and it worked fine, so i guess it's an NF4 issue. Looks like im heading back to Intel.

Ran an Audigy 2 ZS on my rig up until last Sat with no problem, just the latest Vista Beta drivers from the Creative site + ALchemy and its been flawless.
