Commuting is a drag, and I want to make my journey more interesting.
I do like listening to my music, but I'm in the mood for something else.

I dont like reading while I travel, makes me feel I'll , for those who are just going to say "buy a book".

I would love some fantasy type stuff - elves/orc Tolkien'esque or some Stephen King Dark tower kind of stories.

Anyone have some reccomendations?

Terry Pratchett - The unabridged versions are the ones to go for.
JRR Tolkien - LOTR *Dramatised BBC version is fantastic*

Also... not particularly fantasy, but all great.

Orson Welles - War of the Worlds
Douglas Adams - Hitchhikers Trilogy in five parts
Douglas Adams - Last Chance to see
Michael Crighton - Jurassic Park
Michael Palin - Around the World, Full Circle etc...
Bill Bryson - anything of his... all funny.
Ian Flemming - Jimmy Bond.

I spend a lot of time driving at the moment and I go through a LOT of audiobooks - local library may be a good source.

Was given a trial a while ago. Probably a couple of years now. Found the quality to be terrible.

Has it changed then?

Bill Bryson as already mentioned, or Garrison Keillor who is an awesome author and funny with it. The Lake Wobegon stories are the ones to go for imo.

Cheers flibster, awesome list there mate.
Deffo going to get hold of most of them :)

No problem. I've got rows of the buggers on the shelves. Spend so much on them it's ridiculous. :D

I tend to look at this place then do some price hunting. They're not badly priced at all though.

You can even get some on MP3 as well which saves me converting them for my MP3 player.

Forgot about Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal, Red Dragon... ;)
