Audio conversion software?

I just installed SWITCH instead of DBPOWERAMP

Sorry to say that I find the interface awful and seriously lame.

I hated it.

It converts very well however, but the way it works makes the whole process too slow.

dBPowerAmp on the other hand is vastly superior for convcerting them all from one to another using a simple right click on the highlighted files, left click on the new format, and left click and they are done.

switch is the program you want

http://www.nch.com.au/switch/index.html

free, and it downloads the encoders/decoders as it needs them, awesome software

the pro version is for cd ripping i think, i just use EAC + lame for that

use mp3 vbr 32-320

[/close thread]

i must say swith is lovley - does exactly what i want, free, perfect. However - it does seem unstable - before i dare release it on my whole music libary i tested converting one coldplay album.. the program crashed.. so i rebooted it ran again, went to check the files - and well it had worked fine.. for the files that where there but half of them had been deleted :(

thankfuly my libary isnt that big, so im just in the process of copying it overto another drive then ill unlease switch on it :)

Oh ffs, that switch program has just destroyed my entire media library.. at no point did i ask it to ever edit my files, i set it to convert about 20 mp3's and place them in a different folder.. yet ALL my songs are now 1kb files... ive lost all my f'in music to that stupid program.. what a pile of

grr - now i am really peeeed off

not yet :) maybe when i actualy have some music to convert ill give it a go lol

ive calmed down now - still a little t'eed of however :)

anyway im off out :) lol c ya

Id have a look around just in case its perhaps put these files into a temp folder?

Surely it will have backups?

I know to be fair, that dBPowerAmp did give me an issue a while back, when it converted the files to MP3Pro... I didnt have a proper codec and it did that to mine.

This codec I got from my NERO codecs pack.

I only know that because when I used the NERO WAVEEDITOR and I saved out files, it kept saying that I could save 30 more, then after a while there was no more times, and after this, any files I tried to save with the MP3Pro codec, would be empty... Or Like you, they were 1K

It was not dBPowerAmp itself but the codec.

Anyway, that was a long time ago, and if you just download the MP3LAME codec from dBPowerAmp site, you wont have this issue as its using LAME and not MP3Pro.

weird, i've never had any trouble with switch

only used it for a few files tho, a few wma and m4a files that friends have made of their own music

my winamp can only play mp3, so i converted them
