Hi, and sorry if you've seen my post in Graphics card, since its all a bit of a grey area now that GFX cards produce digital sound. Not sure if to post in Sound City or Graphics Card... Anyway onto my question. .......

I decided recently to move away from DVI and use Display Port, for video as well as audio. My speakers now connect into my Dell U2410 rather than my onboard sound from my Asus P5Q Pro mobo..

Anyway, I'm getting frequent 1/2 sec dropouts in the audio.. While playing games and listening to music.

Anyone else had this when using their GFX for audio via HDMI or DisplayPort?

TBH not tried HDMI, i suppose I could ... But I'm guessing it'll do the same.

Google isn't helping much.. Never had any probs with audio dropout when using the onboard sound and speakers plugged into tower.

Thanks it does.. and unfortunately it doesn't seem like ATI are all that interested in getting it fixed.. I'm on 10.10 and its still like that. So I guess anyone wanting to use HDMI or DisplayPort for audio are going have issues on the 5xxx series. You can lock your GPU frequency but you'll be working your machine harder and drawing more leccy. I think I'll just plug my green audio cable back into my onboard sound.. Not using this particular machine on a TV/Receiver anyway, so its not the end of the world.. On my nVidia HTPC, I'm using the same connection methods but to an HDMI amp and then onto a TV, and not had one single hiccup..

Something for an HTPC user to take into consideration at least.. nVidia seem to be doing a better job on audio through HDMI.
