hey all, just bought myself a nice 40" HDTV and got it hooked up to the pc, but i want to get the sound sent down the cable to the tv too. i have the Nvidia gtx 275 and the asus p6t dlx v2 mobo, now i know on the grpahics card to make it send audio i need to connect the 2pin spdif, but on the mobo theres only a 3/4pin audio connector. can i just connect to that or what? i use the onboard sound on the mobo.

Are you connecting via HDMI ?

If you aren't that make sure that you use a DVI to HDMi adapter which are generally included

Also check that the sound default device is set to the correct one if 2 are showing

ive got a dvi-> hdmi dongle and the a hdmi cable going to the tv, got the spdif out setting in the playback devices window in win7, but my question is about connecting the motherboards onbaord sound to the graphics card to send the audio down the hdmi cable. as there is a 2 pin connector on the card, but on the mobo its like a 5 pin with 2 pins missing i think....

Does this help?

ah ok i managed to view it through a proxy site (thanks dust :) )

ok it's all sorted now :) this is more of a sound question but is there a way to make just the VLC movies play through the HDMI cable and all other sounds throuhg my pc speakers cos atm i have to make the HDMI sound the default to get sound from the tv, then i lose all the sound from my pc speakers. feel free to move this to the sound forums admins :)
