Hello,
Since I bought my new system MSI Z370 Gaming Plus, i7 8700, 16Gb G.Skill TridentZ RGB 3600. I've noticed the sound goes out of sync within seconds sometimes.

I've installed the latest drivers that I can find for the onboard (Realtek) and still no change. If I use my USB headphones the sound never goes out of sync but I don't want to have headphones on for hours.

I've done a google search and tried things from changing power saving settings, registry hack etc and nothing worked.

My sons system( my cast off) i7 4770k, MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming also Realtek sound has no issues.

Does anyone else have this issue? And is it best to buy an internal sound card just for Youtube, Netflix, Movies and Gaming?

Thanks in advance

That is rather odd and specific. It's clearly an issue that is connected to the onboard audio somehow, if you're not getting it when using a USB audio device.

If audio was out of sync only, when playing any video on all audio devices, or all audio on one particular device, you can get an idea of what might be the cause. Out of sync issues specifically playing on one audio device with two different sources of video (streaming and local), that is a real head scratcher.

If it were a codec issue, surely that would apply to both onboard audio and USB?

If it's a driver issue, or some issue with Windows 10 (assuming that's what you're using) and specifically that model board's audio, then there might be no fix unless either Realtek or Microsoft comes up with an update to solve the issue. Assuming that's what it is of course.

A sound card would very likely get round the problem, because you don't get this with your USB headset. It's a completely different audio device with different drivers to the onboard audio, as a sound card is.

Try removing motherboard apps that are running extras such as rgb lighting etc if you have them. My Gigabyte app center causes issues like this and high latency.

The only things I installed from the motherboard dvd were the drivers. I didn't bother with any of the fluff.

One thing I had done on my previous system was to install a codec pack. I didn't do that on my new computer as it seemed to be working fine without.

You could try it, but I'm not sure that's the issue. If it were a codec issue, that should apply to all audio devices, not just a specific one (onboard audio).
