Reverse audio channels

I've built a new system and I've connected everything up. There's only one socket on the motherboard to connect an audio cable which links to some audio ports on the front of the case. My problem is that when I connect my headset the audio that should be on the left is on the right and the audio that should be on the right is on the left  Naturally there's only one way to connect the cable on the motherboard so whys the audio coming out wrong and is there any way I can fix it?

Swapping the headset around can't be done because it's clearly labelled L and R and doesn't fit comfy the other way around.

One way would be to swap the left and right channel pins round on the header that connects to the motherboard.

Not sure if there is anything within Windows which allow you to swap the channels around.

Check drivers/software included with your mobo and see if there is anything going amiss there.

If you've a soldering iron you could easily make a short cable and swap the channels over, I did it years ago so I could wear some headphones in reverse (they felt more natural on the wrong ears).
