Hey guys, got an Asus Z170-a with a 6600k last Saturday from ocuk.
Since then I've been battling with audio issues, sound popping and cracking from games and some music videos.
I've tried all different kinds of drivers for the ALC892 chipset.
I've tried front panel and rear panel.
Installed a soundblaster omni external card and I'm still getting these weird noises. This is installed in the same case and using the same speakers/headphones that I had previously with a 4690k/z97 board without issue.

Any ideas what this could be? Its annoying to say the least.

Seems like you've eliminated the most likely suspects which only really leaves the motherboard and motherboard drivers

I've just checked and all mobo drivers are upto date and I've just updated the bios to the latest. The one i had was from march!? Anyway, its made no difference. I've submitted an RMA request.

Well the mobo was returned and I got an Asrock fatality k6+ board. The popping has completely gone it looks a lot better too.
Now I only have to work out why this "gaming" board is scoring 200 points less in 3dmark than the asus.
