I'm after some decent easy to use software for recording my mixes and ripping my vinyls to mp3. I also want to be able to use it to record live sets when I'm DJ'ing out and about.

My main problem is controlling the input volume from the mixer to try and stop the audio clipping and distorting. Is there any software out there with an easy preset input volume that will stop any distortion happening should it start to clip?

I'm currently using Goldwave and whilst simple and easy to use, there doesn't appear to be an input limit.

TIA :)

i think you need to learn how to mix...... :p j/k

seriously, just use the windows volume control, select properties, change to recording, select the line in option and play around with the slider there. :)

Have a look at Goldwave Compressor/Expander. Quote from Help: "The Threshold specifies the volume envelope level to activate the expander or compressor. Compressors change the volume level of all sounds above that level. Expanders change the volume level of all sounds below that level."

I've been using Goldwave already but hadn't found any options but will have another look. I've found a program now that auto sets the optimal recording level at the click of a button and it works brilliantly :D
