Hey everyone.

Total noob when it comes to audio, basically I want to trick out my living room! . Problem is, I want to do it on a bit of a budget, low as possible!

We dont watch any HD stuff yet, just want some nice music when friends are round

Current setup:
PC as audio player - 7.1 onboard sound to a cheapo £30 5.1 speaker set.
Xbox 360 running on my tv - Currently my DVD player
Samsung 42'' plasma for tv viewing.

What I am thinking of as a solution is:
speaker setup for the living area
Amp for PC/360/DVDPLAYER
New Sound Card for PC
Any additions to 360? or new DVD player?

What do you fine people suggest? Any hardware suggestions?

Thanks

Looking at Amp £299 for the amp, then Speaker £169 for the speaker set.

What kind of soundcard will I need for good output from my pc to amp?

amp is available from richersounds for £200 through vip club and also theyll price match superfi for tannoy so you can get them for £140

sounds promising!, so, what do you think would be required for my pc to pair up nicely with something like this?
im guessing a new sound card, but could anyone suggest one?

its up to you really as some people wont notice the difference between onboard and an xifi while some do. ive got an xifi and the only difference i hear is voice is a bit clearer. i only paid £18 for mine thought so not sure if its worth paying £50 for one

got it wrong, currently pc has got a 7.1 surround soundblaster in it lol.

One thing tho, with my cheapo 5.1 surround on my pc, it only takes 3 inputs. Rear, Front, Sub/Cen. Yet most 5.1 DVD players take FL,FR,RL,RR,Sub/Cen. Would this be a problem?
