In August decided to cycle from London to Paris with a friend. Although I'm a courier and have been using a single speed, need to buy a geared bike.
Although recently been educating myself on cycle cross bikes being more comfortable and durable on off road, which I "may" need?
Still yet to plan route/ into the details of the ride.
But from your experience should I go for a road bike or cycle cross? I will most likely buy it used and atm looking at a eBay Ribble 7005 audax road bike for £300, and hoping that would be efficient? I used to own triban btwin 520s and found them amazing.

Any suggestions are welcome etc, sorry if I've written too much or begging for help lol :D

Road bike. Certainly from London you'll have no problem with sticking to roads. Maybe something more endurance than race for the comfort value. CX bikes are generally super stiff and not made for comfort.
