Go to the nearest ***** gypo camp...it will be there the thieving scum

The irony, "It was clearly those scummy gypsies!!!1".

Of course Gypsies were one of the most targeted minorities by the Nazis after the Jews, so many of the 10% of the more than 1,000,000 people killed at Auschwitz were most likely Romany Gypsies. Way to persist in ancient prejudices. :)

Seriousely why is this such a big deal.

;)

Maybe the small fact a war grave, monument has been desecrated. something which is massively immoral and illegal as well as being offensive to millions. just look at the student who weed on a memorial or the oap who wore medals.

The Germans thought so little of the Gypsies they didn't even bother to rape the women before they shot them.

A strange statement I know but it does give a very clear indication of the mindset.

DEATH CAMP SIGN?

That would look awesome on my bedroom wall...

You my friend are a ******* retard and deserve to be put down with the other retards who believe this to be OK or no big deal.

Its aas bad if not worse then desecrating a grave, the only thing is that Auschwitz is a grave for over 3 million people.

You inconsiderate turd.

The /whole thing/ was a big deal. All of it.

The fact that Holocaust-deniers even exist is a rather good testament to what people can choose to forget.

The more we remember, the better. It must not be allowed to happen again.

Memorials and museums are all very nice but don't really show us the horror.

Lest we forget.

I don't understand the people who want to have death camps knocked down and put gardens in place of them, it's totally ridiculous. Gardens are fine, they look nice, and that's the problem. The insides of these camps were the last thing that millions of people during the war would see and I don't think the appropriate thing would be to knock it down.

The world should not be allowed to forget what happened at these places and I think one of the most harrowing experiences you could have would be to visit one. If you want flowers and gardens then go to a war memorial, there are plenty.

Humanity needs scars, lest we forget.

I think that is horrible taking the sign, either wickedness or SCUM. (for whoever it was who really loves that word)

There are some complete ****s in this thread.

Big deal?

**** yes, and maybe you should go over there, see it for yourself and imagine what it was like for the people there, especially if it is part of your heritage.

Go back to fapping off on the internet, seems to sum up your contribution to the world.

I don't understand the outrage, other then a mis-given sense of guilt? Lead is stolen from Church roofs regularly and no one bats an eyelid. Given the cost of scrap metal at present is it surprising?

I doubt the people that stole it wanted to do so in order to cover up any evidence of Auschwitz.

Yes it's appalling that it was stolen, but guess what - Auschwitz was about an awful lot more then a sign, and despite the macabre parody that sign became, the memory of the horrors that occurred there won't be diminished by the sign being missing for a few weeks.

I would much rather they destroy it and build a memorial, something to honor the dead, rather than the atrocities inflicted on them.

edit: That reads strangely, I don't mean "honor" the atrocities.

how does this place not honor the dead already?

to those who say it's no big deal, then you're either un-educated about it and hence making a big statement like that is just silly, why judge something you don't know much about?, or you just simple don't understand what it's like to be in the position those were, which is fair enough, life is much better now and i'm glad people don't understand.

to those getting so uptight about it, jeesh calm down. how can you expect all others to appreciate what the place is now about? not everyone is as fortunate as you. perhaps rather then talking down to people you could try and be nice and get people to understand?

obviously at the time it wasn't missing for a few weeks, but could be missing forever.

to me that sign respresents the camp better then anything else. it shows the lies that the people were told and to me is the most important thing for the camp to keep.

Glad it was recovered, I hope the people responsible are jailed or at least heavily fined for such a horrible deed. I've been to Auschwitz, and unless you have it's difficult to understand what the place means.

Curious. Assuming you aren't being sarcastic, why?

If you are, carry on.

No, he is obviously being deadly serious.

/facepalm
