Australian Grand Prix 2010, Melbourne - Race 2/19

The McLaren just doesnt have the pace to get a 1-2, though. For this to have happened (even if Hamilton had qualified well), they would need both RedBull's and both Ferraris to go out - which is expecting a lot.

I think he just misjudged the true pace of RedBull and Ferrari, who over the last 2 race weekends, have shown are the 2 teams to beat.

No law against optimism Cav :)

Absolutely. But there is optimisim. And then there is sheer delusionality ;)

For example, I like Alonsos approach to the GP. Even before it started he said that they're playing catch up to RedBull. I.e. he is being realistic whilst simultaneously optimistic.

Precisely. And tbh, it was a VERY strong statement to make.
To base it purely on the running order of one practice session, is being too optimistic.

Considering Hamilton's genuine lack of pace, I honestly can't see how he can get on the podium barring a miracle.

didht he say he just couldnt get the tires warm enough?

and to satisfy everyone, button should have got pole if not better. he is clearly not pulling his weight.

rain would be awsome, would be good to see how many 360s the new teams and massa can do :D

Um... based on what assumption?

I think it was a joke Cav.

On the subject of Hamilton, the commentator did say that Hamilton arrived in Australia, from LA, late. Could it be that this "party lifestyle" is catching up with him? Perhaps he would do well to marry his partner and get her to settle down in Europe.

Irony!!!

Did you not berate Button for a supposed playboy, partying, non-racing-focus lifestyle? I seem to recall you taking exception to Button taking a quick break to go see his girlfriend in advance of the '09 season.

Hey ho. Guess I shouldn't be surprised with anything you post these days.

Sorry but the use of the word "hoon" by officials such as Police is just hilarious :D

Bad luck Hamilton. Sounds like you got nabbed by a jobsworth - and I hear Oz is particularly bad for them!

god yes

speeding in Oz is a major deal for them. Its a social no-no that has the standing that drink driving does over here.

As a result most of the cops over there are complete jobsworths when it comes to stuff like this.

Awesome timing. Several badger beers, westons organic and a bottle and a half of vodka. Everyone else has gone to bed. Brilliant timing.

Ok then, news updates:

Gascoyne will be talking to the BBC during the race - excellent.
Di Grassi and Glock will be starting from the pit lane.
Rain is predicted during the race, but is getting windier at the moment - Light rain for the start of the race with heavy rain towards the end.
